dunie
Good Morning! I am new to posting but have been lurking for a few days and LOVE all the information on this Forum. I am very excited to be starting my Whole 30 soon. I am practicing a few recipes and creating my plan to have a successful Whole30. In looking at the approved/not approved additives list there were a few I couldn't find, specifically those in the Gebhardt Chili Powder. I have been using this brand forever and would love to continue if it is compliant. Here is the list of ingredients: chili pepper, natural flavor, spices, less than 2% of: garlic powder, silicon dioxide, propionic acid (preservative), ethoxyquin (to retain color) Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help!!!
jmcbn
Silicon dioxide is basically ground down sand/quartz and is used to keep powdery substances like spices powdery - so not something you'd want to be eating in large quantities, although technically it's not off limits on your Whole30. Thanks jmcbn! How about the propionic acid (preservative), ethoxyquin (to retain color)? Obviously we wouldn't be using lots of this, but want to make sure that we are compliant by using the brand.
