I miss using food as my blanket...

Recommended Posts

I'm not writing because I'm thinking of quitting. That was me the day before yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, and possibly, the day before. Roughly days 12-15.

Today is the end of Day 17, and I am missing using food as a blanket. I just made an error while ordering my wedding invitations. Realistic me realizes that this is only a delay in the ordering process. It can be easily addressed tomorrow with no more than a one day delay.

Emotional me wants food. More specifically, she wants to drown herself in things I will not mention for the sake of my Whole30 comrades until I feel numb and good again. Instead, I'm going to fix some Natural Calm because I have to start turning off the internet and get ready for bed.

In other words, this is working. I'm more attuned to what I need to do for my health. I know that I'm full and I don't need to eat. But that doesn't mean I don't miss food as an emotional blanket.

I'm putting my money on tonight as the night I will dream of a huge cheat. Hey, at least dreams are sugar-free :)

I totally hear you on the emotional food blanket! Way to go for understanding what your body and mind were telling you! I replaced my emotional food blanket with an actual blanket. When I'm feeling bummed or emotional or where I would normally eat to comfort myself, I comfort my physical self with my blankie... works every time!

I love this..super idea!

I've taken to "treating myself"....understanding that this is something different that treating myself to unhealthy food ;) Sometimes, it is painting my nails at home, or getting my eyebrows done, or figuring out something that I want. I think I got used to treating myself with food because it was so much more affordable and comparatively accessible than other material things. I'm learning to shift that.
