Confused about compliance... Can I have my old recipes that were already Whole30 compliant?

I am on Day 7 of my first Whole30 and am working hard to be 100% compliant.  I have cooked extensively for my family for almost 20 years and have always cooked out of Cooking Light magazine, so I generally make healthy meals.  My problem is when my family is away (lunch! snacks!) that I tend to eat junk.  Thus my attempt at a Whole30 lifestyle change.  Because I am new and trying to be perfect on this, I have been cooking exclusively out of the Whole30 cookbook.  However....

I have noticed now that there are several things I make that are already Whole30 compliant.  My salsamole from CL is fine, my personal Italian sauce is fabulous and compliant, as well as my cabbage slaw recipe, CL's chimichurri recipe, etc.  My question is, if I'm not substituting in something like a flour or oil in place of another item - if the recipe is already 100% Whole30 compliant, can I have those????

Here is why I ask.  Someone said you can't have paleo pancakes (as I understood it, it was two eggs scrambled with mashed bananas and cinnamon in it - not appetizing to me at all, but for the sake of this discussion let's say I wanted it), because then you were substituting something that you like to eat (pancakes) with something that was compliant but didn't send the signal to your brain that you're done with pancakes in this life.  Is that the same with my Italian sauce?  In the first week of Whole30 they had me make spaghetti squash and put their version of Italian sauce on it.  I don't eat pancakes but pasta is my kryptonite.  It seems it was far more harmful to my brain to make me eat fake pasta, but I did it because it was in the week one eating list.

So what is compliant?  Recipes that you used to use that were already compliant?  Or nothing that resembles what you used to eat at all?  I'm not being flippant, I really want to know the rules so that I don't mess up this Whole30 because I am NOT going back to Day 1, and I hope to make this something I can follow for life.

Help, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it helpful to think about this in terms of the meal template: does the recipe you used to use fit into the template, meaning protein, good fats and lots of vegetables? If the answer is yes, you are fine. and congrats for feeding your family this way already!

If the recipe is a baked good, pancake, bread or tortilla, it doesn't matter the ingredients, it's not compliant.

I don't cook from whole30 cookbooks, I've never read one.

I've whole30fied my family recipes and use those...my mother's chili or Nanna's casseroles for example. I obviously wouldn't whole30fy bread and butter pudding or pavlova but I reckon most of the things I grew up with with a few tweaks are fine ;)
