Wannie
Hello! I was excited to realize that I could still go to Starbucks or Caribou for the "out for coffee experience" during the Whole30 and just get an unsweetened iced tea. However, when I looked at the tea ingredients at Caribou all of their unsweetened teas have some form of tea extract. The passion tea at Starbucks has fruit juice extract. Am I correct in assuming that these are all off limits because of the extract? Thanks!
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted August 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2015 I've never heard of tea extract before but as long as there is no off plan ingredients (sugar and soy lecithin come to mind) then you're okay to consume these during your Whole30. Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted August 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2015 It entirely depends on what it is extracted 'in'. Sugar, soy, alcohol would not be compliant. You'd likely have to ask to see the actual ingredient label to make sure.
