KellyMarie_
I can't really find any information on wether Palm oil is Paleo or not. I would be using it for cooking veggies and plantains.
dana
i suddenly feel as though i'm linking to MDA too much, but here you go: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/palm-oil-nutrition/#axzz1tMKgAmlz also, while i don't use pure palm oil, it and coconut oil are combined in the MCT oil i add to my coffee/tea daily. Very Good Stuff, that.

Aretha Alexander
Wow I had been wondering if Palm Oil was ok. So it may be safe to make the assumption that Palm Shortening is ok also.
Rachel Gerson
Follow-up question. I noticed that Palm oil is allowed but Palm Kernel oil is not. What about Palm fruit oil? I'm asking because I was looking at almond butter yesterday and the brand I was about to buy had palm fruit oil added. Ended up not buying it but now I'm curious if I can. Thanks! Renee Lee
Yes, that's from the fruit of the plant, not the seed, so you're fine. Note that if sustainability matters to you at all, be careful of all palm oils. They aren't always harvested responsibly.
escherichia
And... it depends on what type of palm oil you buy! There's a difference between refined and unrefined palm oil. http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/tropical-plant-fats-palm-oil.html

Derval
I bought palm shortening to make a paleo brownie recipe I saw online, but that never happened. Is there any W30 appropriate use for it?
MeadowLily
I bought palm shortening to make a paleo brownie recipe I saw online, but that never happened. Is there any W30 appropriate use for it? You could mix it with bacon grease and use it for bear bait. You could mix it with coarse sugar and use it as a body/foot scrub. You'd have to wash it off outside because I think it would clog up your plumbing.
