Palm Oil

Recommended Posts

Follow-up question. I noticed that Palm oil is allowed but Palm Kernel oil is not. What about Palm fruit oil? I'm asking because I was looking at almond butter yesterday and the brand I was about to buy had palm fruit oil added. Ended up not buying it but now I'm curious if I can.

Thanks!

Rachel

I'm dying for the answer to this question as well. Must've been looking at the same Whole Foods almond butter as you =)

Yes, that's from the fruit of the plant, not the seed, so you're fine.

Note that if sustainability matters to you at all, be careful of all palm oils. They aren't always harvested responsibly.

I bought palm shortening to make a paleo brownie recipe I saw online, but that never happened. Is there any W30 appropriate use for it?

You could mix it with bacon grease and use it for bear bait.

You could mix it with coarse sugar and use it as a body/foot scrub.   You'd have to wash it off outside because I think it would clog up your plumbing.
