However, the mayo has an odd taste and smell which i think is from the oil. They smell the same. Was the oil I used too cheap? Or do all light olive oils have this smell and taste? mushroomqueen Posted August 10, 2015 Author Share Posted August 10, 2015 Yes you're right the oil must have been rancid. I had to throw out the whole batch of mayo. It just tasted nasty.
