Need some fine tuning help

Hey Everyone. I'm on Day13 and so far so good. I have been completely on plan food wise but I'm having a couple of issues I was hoping I could get some feed back and advice.

One of the things I've been doing is recovering from a case of Mono and then a subsiquent reactivation of the stupid virus. I'm much less tired than I was this time last year but I'm still having a hard time getting out of bed in the mornings and sometimes thats becuase I'm not sleeping well through the night. Which messes up my whole day but man if I dont get my sleep I'm screwed. It throws off my whole schedule for food, work, down time everything. here's an example:

First let me say yesterday was a bad day. I wasnt hungry. I didnt get my breakfast finished till much later in the morning which threw off the timing for lunch. I just wasnt hungry till almost 3. At that point I had a couple of chicken thighs and a handful of almonds. I've been keeping my nuts limited even though I love them. Then, I didnt want to eat a whole meal cause my timing was off and my husband is doing this with me and I knew he was going to be looking forward to dinner.

That said, I had to go to the store before I could fix dinner as I'd managed to run out of some staples. Then I had a pretty good sugar crash while I was out. I knew I needed a snack and by the time i got back into my car I was ready to eat a whole box of Red Vines, but I didnt. I did however buy an apple and some almond butter, which I couldnt find, so I ate almost half a bag of grapes. Then by the time I made it home I had a pretty good headache going and I was wobbly. So my husband stepped in to wrangle up dinner.

This week I've had a harder time getting up and getting my breakfast down. I usually wake up hungry but i'm having a hard time getting out of bed before 8 (I work from home)  but the last couple of days getting my breakfast down has been tough and I won't not eat my food. I may stretch it out though till its gone. I dint finish till 10:30 today.

For example this mornings breakfast was:

a ground beef, spinach, mushroom scramble

a side of roasted sweet potato

a half an avocado,

a sliced pluot

a cup of coffe with coconut cream. (I'm only doing coffee once or twice a week)

Most of my breakfasts look pretty much like this. I dont feel overful but at this point I wont be hungry till much later and dinner is planned for shortly after my Honey gets home around 6. I haver dinner planned and ready to go but if I didnt it would be really easy to scavenge for leftovers and not really get my food in today and then it could just continue like that.

Suggestions, ideas please.

Being sick while doing the first couple weeks of Whole30 is trying, for sure.  That could certainly explain your extra tiredness.  Whole30 isn't overly concerned with what time you get up in the morning, just that you eat within an hour of waking.

It's hard to tell from what you're posting how much food the main part of your breakfast (the scramble) is.  How much protein is that?  How many cups of veggies? Protein should be a palm and veggies should be 1-3 cups (3 is better than 2 is better than 1).  Save your coffee and the fruit until you are done eating the rest of your breakfast. Fruit is optional on Whole30 and should not push veggies out of the way. If you are struggling to finish your breakfast, fruit shouldn't be part of that.  Coffee is an appetite suppressant.

Do note that eating less during reduced appetite causes reduced appetite which causes you to eat less and the cycle goes on.  Eating breakfast within an hour of waking is critical to balancing your hormones/blood sugar (which helps with overall healing, btw), you need to practice doing this.  Create a template meal, eat as much as you can and then wrap it up.  As soon as you feel able, eat from it again.  This trains your body that it will be eating a proper meal at breakfast time.

Your sugar crash tells me that you are not fat adapted and that is a result of where you are in the schedule but the results of which are exacerbated by the small amount of food that you are eating.  Set a timer if you have to, make a meal and eat it 4-5 hours apart.  You'll get used to it!

Thanks ladyshanny. My scramble was a 6 oz bag of baby spinach, (the whole freaking bag) with about 8 oz of ground beef plus the mushrooms etc. With the sweet potato being a good cup of potato. Then the fruit. I realized last week that there was too much fruit going on in our meals and I wouldnt let my husband buy any, lol. I'm wanting to hard core that 1 to 2 servings a day of fruit and with the exception of the grape binge yesterday I'd only had slice of cantaloupe earlier in the week.

i think what I'll do for my upcoming breakfasts is fix my favorite ground pork and cabbage stirfry so I have enough and start with that. Thats should help some.

I've decided to not really buy fruit anymore during my Whole30 for two reasons. One, I am trying hard to kill my sugar dragon, or at least severely immobilize him. Two, it gives me more money to buy vegetables! This is pretty big for me because I really like fruit, and prior to Whole30, I probably ate about 5 servings per day.
