SugarDemonBaby
Hi, I am at my wits end with the bleeding. I have had continuous menstrual bleeding for 4 years, was all investigated and advised it was due to my poly cystic ovaries and I needed to lose weight. I dealt with bleeding light to moderate every day for 4 years, I can handle blood. Since Day 3 of Whole 30 - I'm Day 16 now, I've been bleeding torrentially. I use menstrual cups and incontinance pads to cope but it's so heavy I can't control it and it goes all over the floor during changes which can be as frequent as every 15 minutes. I've been finding it hard to leave the house becaus of practical reasons to do with the bleeding. Like availability of toilets, coming out of cubicles with hands covered in blood etc. It's been 13 days. I was cheerful enough about it until Friday, I thought it would stop on Friday. No luck. Sometimes I think it's easing - like yesterday but this morning has been another bloodbath. I've lost 60ml (2oz) in the last hour. I am getting dizzy when I stand up too quickly from the blood loss. I do not know how to cope with this another day. I feel exhausted and achey and I was anaemic to begin with. I don't know what to do. Link to comment
GFChris
I'd call your doctor ASAP. Link to comment
Britishgal
If go straight to A&E. That amount of bloodless could be catastrophic ;( hope you get it sorted out Link to comment
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 18, 2015 You'd better be at the doctor or the emergency room while I'm typing this. This is a food elimination program website, our ability to help you deal with aggressive bleeding is null. Link to comment
SugarDemonBaby
I phoned my doctor and she said if I'm only dizzy when I stand up fast thats ok, to take it easy, drink fluids and if it gets worse to come in and she'll give me a prescription of tranexamic acid. I know a lot of women have got irregular bleeding on whole30, I'm wondering if it'll stop if I come off Whole30. I don't want to come off Whole30 at all but I think I'm going to go crazy if this continues. I think I'll continue for now and try the tranexamic acid before I quit Whole30. It would be the absolute worst if I ruined my Whole30 and the bleeding just continued anyway. Link to comment
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 18, 2015 I just want to reiterate that there is nothing about eating protein, vegetables and fat that is going to cause this sort of bleeding. Yes, people may get some breakthrough bleeding at the beginning and depending on where in their cycle they began the Whole30 but it is typically not even a fraction of a normal period day. The amounts you are describing are highly concerning and outside the scope of anyone on this forum. Link to comment
Munkers
In general, if you're bleeding through a heavy or overnight pad in an hour or less (or filling a menstrual cup in this timeframe) then that's cause to go to the ER stat. Did you tell your doctor how often you're having to change your cup and pad? Link to comment
Britishgal
If my dr told me to put my feet up and wait whilst bleeding as heavily as you describe I'd be ignoring her and phoning an ambulance. Then I'd be changing Drs. Nothing about bleeding cups and cups of blood from your womb is normal, nor is it something you should leave alone for more than 2 minutes (the time it takes to dual the phone) Link to comment
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 18, 2015 Not that any of us are medically trained (and I still think you should get to a medical establishment asap), but are you bleeding free flowing blood? Or is your cup filling with mostly large clots? I use a menstrual cup also and find that for 3-4 hours during every period, I fill a cup about once/hour but the cup is full because the contents are mostly semi-solid matter. On the other hand, this is normal for me and has been going on consistently for about 5 years now. What you are describing doesn't sound normal for you. Link to comment
Carrots&Blueberries
I just realized that I've been on 4 times since yesterday to make sure you were ok. SDB, hope all is ok (and that you have a chance to update us!). Sounds like an awful lot of blood... Link to comment

SugarDemonBaby
Hi, Sorry, I forgot to follow this thread. Thank you for the messages. I bled very heavily for 2 more days and then it eased and now it has actually stopped for the first time in 4 years. I'm enjoying it so much even though I'm still feeling very tired. I know the bleeding may start again. I hope so much that I just get periods once a month. I'm aiming for that. I'm so over doctors, and I've been to so many for help and never gotten any better that I just don't trust them anymore. I know they can't help me with my gynae problem. Laura Link to comment
Carrots&Blueberries
Laura, I'm happy to see your post! And how terrific that you're getting some time without bleeding. Here's hoping that you're moving in the direction of a menstrual cycle. Link to comment
