agentventi
Anyone else dealing with this? I went from fit, active, healthy to miserable and a blob in a matter of 8 months:( I have been on nature thiroid for a few months now and the Dr is still playing with my dose to get my T 3 optimal. Meanwhile, my muscle continues to go away. My digestive track is messed up, my body has turned to flab despite doing workouts. I have been eating too many gf snacks, gf breads, fries, too much nut butters, lara bars, too many bananas, nuts, coconut milk ice creams....all that needs to STOP. I have tried low fodmap but very little relief for my crazy bloating...like 9 months pregnant bloat! So I am committed to doing another whole30. The last one was 2 years ago. I felt so so good following the plan. It took a few months of being strict but my facial bloat went away, inflamation went away and I did not have thryoid or digestive issues back then. Just frustrated I stayed. Link to comment
MeadowLily
The buck stops here. You're right. All of those gluten free paleo snacks and larabars will get you nowhere good. Those GF paleo snacks in brightly colored packages are SWYPO's. They are still highly engineered to be craved. Lay them down and don't look back over your shoulder. Wipe your slate clean. Return to sender...address unknown. They're not coming back to your doorstep. Hit the Reset Button. Make this Whole 30 your best ever. 100% Compliant without Complaint. We'll be there in your corner. Carlaccini
I believe Hypothyroid is an autoimmune condition. So you might want to consider to do something close to an AI protocol Whole 30. You can find the shopping list here: http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-shopping-list-AIP.pdf I stick to mainly lower FODMAP and AIP for most days. I have found out over time that I can tolerate certain FODMAP's - like broccoli - but I never can overdo them. For AIP I am mainly egg free (with the exception of mayonnaise) and tomatoes and peppers must always be consumed cooked. Link to comment
SPOTTYTHECAT
I am also hypothyroid with hashimotos....and estrogen dominance. Lost all my muscle, so it seems, flabby all over. I lift weights, run, kickball, watch my diet and can't lose a pound - I only gain! I keep thinking about a whole30, however, my doctor wants me to increase my protein and I struggle getting in enough as it is. What are you all eating to get more protein??? Thanks, Pam Link to comment
Sabrina8
I have hashimotos and epstein barr. I have felt like I had weak muscles all my life, even if I work out. I am tired all the time, finding motivation is like walking though thick mud. This last year I finally got diagnosed and prescribed armour thyroid, and this is the first time I've really trid to get my diet in check without keeping the bad things too. I am on day 7. I didn't get all the symptoms like everyone else seems to, I don't really feel any different yet, but I am missing some foods, especially when I got to the store. I'm excited to see if my syptoms get any relief on the whole30. Link to comment

Thanks, Pam Chicken, turkey, beef, bison, venison, pork, duck, eggs, fish (fresh/frozen/tinned), shellfish - you name it we eat it!! The recommendation is for 1-2 palm sized pieces of protein at eah meal, or if you're eating eggs a serving is as many whole eggs as you can hold in one hand, which is 3-4 for most females. There's no shortage pf protein around these parts!! Link to comment
Bikemore
I also have Hashimoto, been struggling for 3 years. For myself, the first priority was getting the meds right - that took a while. Gluten-free relieved some of the symptoms. I'm now on my first Whole30 and have started to notice that cutting dairy seems to relieve water retention (swelling in extremities) due to Hashimoto.
