PowerTool
WOO HOOO!!! My Day 30 is tomorrow, and I am glad I get to celebrate twice. Once with you, and once for me, hehe! Way to go everyone. I'm not going to lie, yesterday (day 28 for me) I was having a MAJOR MAJOR case of the "oh who cares it's been 28 days, why don't we go ahead and reintroduce legumes?...." HA and then I woke up and realized, WTH it's two more days!!! STAY STRONG Hope you are enjoying your fabulous day 30.
IronGirlTrixie
Happy day 31 folks! I'm dragging behind today. I'm trying to focus on non scale victories because there weren't a whole lot of scale/number ones. At least ones that I was hoping to see. However, clothes fit better, I sleep harder and faster even if it's not enough, it's better than it was. The outdoor temperature kicked my behind yesterday and I'm feeling sluggish. I had my questionable (as in is it approved?) Kombucha this morning. Not too bad. But I'm definitely going for a round 2 in a few weeks.
Midna
VICTORY!! We did it!! I woke up early, as usual, and feel a bit "out of it". What am I doing today? So I tried to look at the non-scale victories as well, IronGirlTrixie. Like I mentioned yesterday, something is definitely different. It is exciting to NOT care about what I can eat today...not even interested. But, I am trying to see beyond the numbers, and it is hard. The best part is my family is like, "Yay, Mom, you did it!" That is really cool. I didn't think they really noticed or recognized it as a REAL journey. But they did. I will do my wine date with hubby on Friday or Saturday and then back to the Whole-something...14, 15, 30...who knows. Feels too good to let go of. And looking realistically at "What could I have done better?" makes me realize I want another go at it! Regardless....like the daily email said today, and I said yesterday....WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! Keep in touch...
Ramonax
YEAH! you are all here. I forgot to check the box to get emails and was sad all day thinking no one would write. So glad we all feel better. Nothing was different for me as I'm going for 45.. but want to hear about what you ate! what did it taste like? HOW DID YOU FEEL?
IronGirlTrixie
I only had hard cider and it tasted lovely. I felt it pretty much immediately because I hadn't eaten dinner yet. But I felt like I was able to handle it better than previously. I may regret it when I go dancing tomorrow.
dizzylizzard
Today my only conscious non-compliant indulgence was a caesar (which might be a Canadian drink?), which contains vodka and clamato juice (clam broth, tomato, spices) but I completely forgot about the other ingredients... Which include Worcestershire sauce! I just looked it up and Worcestershire sauce can possibly contain soy. I definitely had a reaction to something. It may have been the drink but now that I think about it, I got cajun chicken in my salad not thinking that the spice blend might have something like soy in it as well... Either way, I felt mildly bloated after the meal and just a little off. Can't really put my finger on it. My energy was definitely lower into the evening, the alcohol seemed to affect me more than I thought it would have. TMI warning! - later in the evening I had some very potent smelling gas too so my body was definitely having a reaction. I just wish I knew to what exactly! I feel like I messed it up a little by not thinking things through, since it could have been the Vodka (which was the only thing I thought I was testing) or possibly the trace of soy/something in the Worcestershire sauce/cajun spice. I have a feeling it was the alcohol though, just from past experiences.
IronGirlTrixie
Yup, good thing cider is a treat item for me rather than an every day wanted item. I apparently was up for an hour or so overnight and I didn't know it. But the watch knows. My tummy is rumbling and I'm feeling a bit of that sugar dragon. Going clean for a few days then trying non-gluten grains. Also, it felt very weird not having a Whole30 email this morning!
PowerTool
So, how's everything going? I'm going to admit, I'm kind of bummed the Whole30 is "over" for me. Yeah, there's still reintroduction and all, but you get what I mean? Like IronGirlTrixie said, no newsletter, etc... ANYWAY, I did try legumes and things are okay so far. Except feeling bummed this morning. When I realized I felt bummed, I thought, "OMG is it the peanut butter that's causing me to feel sad?" hahahaha it's hard to tell. I think it's just a case of the "well, what now?"s Candace
IronGirlTrixie
Well, considering I'm doing a weekly cook up... I'm guessing it's not over
IronGirlTrixie
I tested non-gluten grains yesterday with corn on the cob (so tasty) and rice noodles. I feel ok no real adverse reaction other than I feel hungrier today so maybe the sugar dragon is waking up. Will probably limit these items to special occasions. PowerTool
I have tried legumes one day, and wine the next. Reactions were as expected.....not much, and, feeling sluggish the next morning (respectively). Today I try dairy. I want to know if it is the cause of foggy head. IronGirlTrixie, I have been wondering what corn will be like for me after 30 days without it. I'm not surprised it was delicious! Glad you enjoyed. IronGirlTrixie
So I had a pretzel at meal 1, a roll at meal 2 and a pita at meal 3. No immediate effects. However, that cake for my birthday? Kicked my behind. Had similar effects as alcohol. And I felt sick to boot. It was tasty but the after effects make me look at it and go oh no no no no. I'm still dragging from it. Ramonax
I've been off the grid camping. Things are going okay - camping was rough as it was raining and I couldn't be bothered to cook a bunch of special meals, so I ate cold meat and veggies and probably didn't eat enough. feel kind of sluggish. Also went out for dinner and got a steak. It came slathered in some weird sauce, I don't even know what it was..so I ate it and felt sick that night. But I'm still chugging along. Need to focus on real veggies and warm food now that i'm home!
PowerTool
I am attempting the month of September, to keep the kitchen mostly Whole30, and not blow my budget. I'm cutting out recipes (things with sauces, lots of prep and ingredients) and sticking to just protein, veggies, and cooking fats or avocados. Am I afraid of food boredom? Yep. Yep I am. WISH ME LUCK!

PowerTool
Go for it, IronGirlTrixie! Me, my husband, and my son have had an awful stomach bug this week! All I've managed in the last three days is a potato, Gatorade, lots of saltines and one Whole30 compliant meal... And that meal did NOT sit well. I'm actually on here scouring the forum for whole30 foods/drinks that can help with illness. I've heard of broths but am not finding much else. Any suggestions appreciated. When I'm sick I can eat scrambled eggs. I could probably eat chicken soup (are there canned versions that are compliant?) and for some reason I like cold stuff, so a frozen fruit smoothie (banana, coconut milk and frozen strawberry or something) - I know smoothies are not encouraged, but if it's all you can get down... frozen grapes/banana. Any sort of bland smushy food - mashed potato, mashed cauliflower, yam? bland fruits such as banana, melon.

I've felt crappy and I know it's the food. I think you could maybe have some ginger tea to help settle your stomach and then all the bland things. I think I read in the forums or in the book about a few things for sore throats and the like. Such as using olive oil with a sore throat and so on.
