Diamond_Doula
I'm having horrible dizzy spells today. I've eaten breakfast and have had coffee. All within the last hour. I had a few spells yesterday but again, it was after lunch. I'm eating enough. I wonder if this warrents a trip to my doctor to see if I can come off my BP meds? I'm looking for my BP cuff so I can take it but I'm losing that battle.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 21, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 21, 2015 Please see this article, specifically the section surrounding High Blood Pressure Medication: http://whole30.com/2013/09/talk-to-your-doc-part-1/ High Blood Pressure Medication If you’re taking medication for high blood pressure, relax. There, did it go down a little bit? In all seriousness, this is another case where you want to consult your healthcare practitioner prior to launching your Whole30. (I’ve had one patient who no longer needed his blood pressure medication while eating as prescribed on the Whole30.) If you are taking medication for high blood pressure, I recommend purchasing a blood pressure cuff to use at home. These are available at any drugstore. Monitor blood pressure for the duration of the Whole30, one or two times per day. If blood pressures fall below a certain predetermined level, or if symptoms of decreased blood pressure occur (some include light-headedness especially when going from sitting to standing, generalized fatigue, etc.) then it’s time to back down on the amount of medication being taken. These changes typically occur gradually, and not immediately after starting the diet. - See more at: http://whole30.com/2013/09/talk-to-your-doc-part-1/#sthash.IyorpfPo.dpuf Outside of the blood pressure issue, what day are you on? What have you been eating? Portions, timing, fluids, stress, exercise, sleep? There might be something else here that stands out that we could advise you some tweaks on. Could be as simple as feeling like you're eating enough but not actually getting the right balance of protein, fat and carbs or even enough overall for your specific context. Feel free to post here and we can take a look.
Diamond_Doula
I'm on Day 21. I had diced chicken apple sausage and white potato with egg mixed in for breakfast, coffee with cashew milk. I drink water with lemon essential oils dropped in all day long. I don't keep track but I'm clear. I lift weights three times a week, just enough to be sore on my days off. I have not given into doing cardio yet. I never could find my cuff to take my blood pressure but I am feeling much better. It's been about 24 hours now since I last took my meds (I'm on a diuretic). Lunch today will be left over chili from the whole 30 book.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 21, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 21, 2015 Ya, unfortunately it's really hard to determine portion sizes based on what you wrote. Was it one sausage and one egg? If so, probably not enough. Are you having one cup of chili for lunch or 2-3? Extra veggies? What fat do you top your foods with? Diamond_Doula
I tried to get in with doctor, no appointments til next Thursday. Military healthcare, what fun. Two eggs, one sausage and half potato I think my chili is about a cup and a half and I'm having an apple as well.
Karen
How's your salt intake? When you're not eating processed foods you often need to salt your food more.
