Tracy R.
I've had a head cold for 4 days now. Today my stomach is not feeling so great, so I thought a nice chicken soup would feel soothing. My old recipe is not W30 compliant. I don't have any chicken broth and couldn't find any at the grocery this morning that didn't have sugar. Why put sugar in broth? grrrrr!!!! If you have a good chicken and veggie recipe that starts made with homemade broth, please share.
carolina
You can make homemade broth by boiling chicken with veggies like onions, garlic, celery and carrots, and your favorite seasonings. However, there are chicken broths at Whole Foods without sugar you can use. There is a great book called Paleo Comfort Foods by Julie and Charles Mayfield; I have made their chicken tomatillo soup and it is deliciously Whole30 compliant. You basically boil the chicken with the veggies until it is cooked. Remove chicken and shred it in a food processor before adding back to the broth, add tomatillo salsa, chop cilantro as topping. Enjoy.
idauria
I agree with the previous poster. Your broth is the soup when you make it from scratch. I start with cut up chicken(can use a whole chicken but parts are easier to deal with)...add it to a stock pot. I add celery, onions(quartered), carrots, a turnip, a parsnip, and fresh dill. Add plenty of salt. Bring to a boil and then simmer until chicken is done. Voila! Soup!
