Just completed Day 6 and I feel bigger than ever..is this normal???

This is my first whole30 and I'm as dedicated as I can possibly be...My 6yr old is on it too (without any discussion about anything being illiminated, just started serving her the same food as my own as she used to end up eating by herself while I was preparing a different meal for me in the kitchen!). After so so many years of bingeing then restricting I am not healthy and no matter how hard I trained, I kept putting on weight.  I came across this program and decided that I have nothing else to loose, I have just completed day 6. I excercise almost daily (spin) and while I have cut the intensity back a bit in this first week, I am taking the instruction about pre and post workout food...I am eating so much more than I ever have and yes, all that healthy fat is really challenging everything I have ever thought before! Plus I was a strict vegan for 7 years and vegetarian for 15yrs so eating meat has certainly been interesting to say the least. I have a geat local organic butcher so ethically I'm ok and I'm committed, no matter what changes I need to make.

I have felt tired and cranky (all the suggested feelings) and tonight I could see similar effects with my daughter, plus her skin has broken out in tiny spots, but as I sit and type - I feel bigger than ever. I'm drinking 2-3litres of water each day, don't think I'm over doing either the protein or the fat, not eating many starchy veg (except after spin session)....is this normal?

Weight definitely fluctuates as the body recovers from inflammation & gets used to the new diet, and if you've had a history of restriction then it may well hold on to what food is currently coming it's way for fear of the next 'famine'...

If you'd like to post a few days worth of your food/liquid intake, indicating portion sizes, along with your sleep/stress/activity levels we can take a look and make sure you are on the right track.

I felt huge, bloated, and disgusting around Day 7 or 8 (all the days are starting to run together). I am now on Day 26 and feel leaner than I have in a long time; I am eating more fat and meat than I have in my adult life (I am 46). I see my waist - which is lovely. Hang in there.

Hi daikagk,

Depending on how recent adding animal proteins is (did you go straight from veggie/vegan to Whole30?) you might also benefit from a digestive enzyme and some probiotics to help you get your gut in order.
