mfustos
First off, let me say I did try and find anything that explained this in the forum prior to asking, but alas, my scavenger hunt proved unsuccessful. If it is out there, my apologies. I am not looking down upon or attacking coffee, tea or any other natural, non-sweetened caffeinated beverage or their consumers at all. I am a coffee and tea drinker. I am just wondering for my own knowledge why caffeine is okay to drink on Whole30? If we are trying to eliminate substances and foods that cause possible triggers for physical and mental/emotional ailments, wouldn't caffeine fall under a substance to eliminate as well? I am finding that it may trigger and/or worsen my anxiety and sadly (and hopefully) am planning on eliminating it from my diet starting tomorrow (Day 21). Just curiosity really. Thanks! Type Whole30 followed by whatever you're looking for, and you'll get links to past discussion threads.) Further, as with any approved food/beverage items on a Whole30, if you find it's not serving you in any way, it's best to ban it from your "island." MeadowLily
It's for the best if you can avoid it. I had to edge down slowly before I could totally eliminate it. It took me months before I went Cold Turkey. I feel so much better without coffee.
mfustos
MeadowLily, thanks for the reassurance. I am pretty sure that it does cause more severe anxiety for me...which in turn tends to exacerbate my brain fog. I have cut out caffeine several times before, so for me, it's just cutting the habit of going and getting the hot cup of joe and establishing a new morning routine...it is truly emotional. Would you share how you felt better?
