LJG
I am finishing day 3 of my Whole 30 and noticed that the whole bean coffee I have been brewing has "natural and artificial flavoring"? It is Kroger Brand Private Selection French Vanilla Creme, whole bean. I have had about 1.5 cups each morning (black). Do I need to start over? Please say no, please say no... Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 13, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2012 The idea of natural and artificial flavoring of coffee beans sounds bad to me. Shouldn't coffee beans just be coffee flavored? The vanilla creme is the issue. It is hard to know how big a deal it is, but I would say there is no need to start over, but I would use a plain coffee for the rest of your Whole30. Runningforme82
I love how a lot of the coffees I would reading labels on say natural AND/OR artificial flavoring? Really? Just tell me what the h*ll is in it! ha!
LJG
Ridiculous ingredients, I know! And I never would have looked had I not started this program. I went out last night and bought plain, organic 100% coffee beans with nothing added. I am glad to not have to start over (3 days down the drain would have been a bit disheartening, particularly if it was not due to a conscious slip!) Here is to kicking off Day 4 with my Organic Coffee!
Adagio
In my opinion, if a food/beverage lists an unknown ingredient, you should pass on it. Why bother with putting a synthetic chemical into your body unless it is going to somehow save your life?
