Keep trying but keep failing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking for some advice. I successfully completed a Whole30 over a year ago and lost 10lb. After that i went back to my old eating habits (not very good ones), gained all the weight back and more and I've been trying to get back to healthy eating. I have attempted to do 4 Whole 30s and failed. Two of them because of poor preparation (meal planning) and the other two because of temptations at work. The most recent one was last week.

Last week I spent all day on Sunday preparing for this week's start of the Whole 30. I was supposed to start on Monday, but someone had a birthday at work and the team brought cookie cake and I decided to eat the cookie cake and move the start of the whole 30 to Tuesday. Tuesday and Wednesday were a success. I even started to feel better. Then on Thursday I went to a work training in which they catered in food from one of my favorite places (Zoe's kitchen) and I caved and had that for lunch instead of the lunch i had prepared.

I think my main problem is that I don't have anyone holding me accountable. I did my first Whole 30 with my boyfriend at the time. We used to live together, and we had each other for support and to hold each of us accountable. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what to do to keep me motivated and how to deal with the temptations at work?

Thanks!!

You can be accountable to us here on the forums? We can encourage & offer advise & even give you a ticking off if you don't tow the line...  ;)  :)

Seriously though, set a date, and find a group starting around that time (Here's one starting Sept 1st...) & use the forum for accountability. You've done it before, you've put in the ground work to do it again - all you need is the committment from you to you that you will stay the course for the 30days for the good of your health.

YOU are the change you seek - but we are all more than happy to help you along your way....

I'm new to this forum and jmcbn's answer is perfect...from my perspective as a first-timer it would be way way harder to do this just focusing on a weight loss goal. For me reducing my joint pain is a powerful motivation.

Why, specifically, do you want to do another Whole30? Are you having health issues? I'd suggest spending some time really focusing on your health goals, in great detail, visualizing them, even.

Others here have told me to ditch the scale and I have to agree that the focus on numbers makes it much, much more tempting to bail.

Keep at it, you CAN do it. Commit to yourself.
