raahraah
Today is my prep day, I think I just did a marathon, I started cooking at 9am and finished at 9pm. I have food for the week and some frozen food for emergency. I was so sad to throw out my Coffemate creamer and my splenda and my flavored coffees, I had a misery party for that, but I know that is what caused me to gain weight. I also boxed up my Sam's club pack of Diet Coke and a whole bunch of other items to donate to the University's food bank. I know the Diet Coke made my heartburn worse, but still was addicted to it Now my kitchen is clean and free of preservatives, dairy, and filled with whole foods and teas and infused waters. Tomorrow is my day 1..

NY2LA2MONTREAL
Thank you, I believe this is exactly what I need. You have all the support in this forum. My husband and I just finished day 18. We love it and do not feel deprived or hungry. You will love the food -- and wait 'til you make your own mayo :-)
raahraah
Thanks NY2LA2MONTREAL, I actually made mayo yesterday but ran out of olive oil and used coconut oil, in Florida it is always liquidy, I thought I hit a home run until I went to use it and it was hard...haha forgot the fridge solidifies the coconut oil.. so I made some more today with Olive oil, going to try it tomorrow. My first day was an eye opener, holy cow, the scale creeped up and actually dared to take b4 pics, oh god, where did this weight come from, ugh I had the gastric sleeve 9 yrs ago so I can't eat a lot at one meal, I have to break it up into mini meals or I will be sick as a dog. Breakfast 3 egg blueberry tortilla with dash of coconut milk- snap peas - coffee with coconut milk and cinnamon mini-meal 2 eggs made into egg salad and a cup of roasted vegetable in olive oil Lunch - cup of cauliflower soup - then crashed till 6:30pm Dinner - half of butterfly almond crusted pork chop - 2 cups of roasted veggies - half sweet potato chips roasted with olive oil Had a heartburn flare up I took two tums, and failed on my first day, I read on here about the apple cider vinegar, will try that, the heartburn is a constant problem and this is the main reason I want to do the Whole30. Hang in there. It took me a few days to get my sea legs on preparing foods. The secret I found is in having leftovers. So look at it as being somewhat challenged on day one but what I can see from your meals - it wasn't a failure unless that 3 egg blueberry tortilla was really made in a flour or corn tortilla. raahraah
Day 6 was crazy day pretty much ate nothing, got a salad from Lucky's market with some vinegarette dressing, chicken, veggies, egg. For a very late dinner, was ground beef mixture with veggies, baked pototo Day 7 was another day on the road, I brought food with me, had olives, fresh veggies, sweet potato egg bake wedge, and the rest of my ground beef mixture, and raspberries, it was hard to get in proteins, rest of the baked potato Day 8 on the road back had an egg, chicken, 1.5 banana, grapes, coffee with coconut cream, cucumber tomato salad, sugar peas. My first week went by quick and painless, it is so easy to say nope can't have that, haven't been hungry like a ravenous bear like normal at all, and that is amazing, the only time i didn't feel like that is when i took diet pills. This is miraculous. My heartburn has been better, If I take the pill late then I am doomed all day and doesn't matter what I eat. I feel great, normally I don't know which causes the total craving food all day syndrome, but i don't want it back ever!!

raahraah
Whew, I know I haven't posted in the diary for a long time, but I finished my 30 days with 2 funerals of dear friends that passed way too young 56 and 52, several 5 hour trips to Miami and back and I stayed true to the Whole30, trust me, this last week I wanted to cheat so bad, I got word my friend passed, left work and drove to miami, only packed the olives and jicama and coconut cream and left. BUT as much as I thought about it, I didn't I stayed right on track and said I can wait one week to have vanilla extract in my coffee... I am on day 32 and I did add cinnamon extract to my coffee, it didn't make a difference in taste and I was exhausted and felt like shit the 2nd day, I don't think its from that, just 1 tsp both days, but I am not having it again, I haven't felt like that for 25 days. I am weary about adding dairy back and for sure splenda or stevia, I know those are my triggers to gorging. I am not into beans and can't due gluten anyways, I felt great for pretty much the whole30 except the first 3 days of withdrawals so I am going to stick with it. i am craving coffee with creamer so once in a blue moon, I may hit Dunken donuts and test that reintroduction and see if I go crazy wanting coffee with tons of creamer all day long. So far this has been a great experience, ZERO cravings and even forget to eat, I haven't ever had that unless I was sick or on a diet pill. I know I have lost weight/inches, my clothes actually fit now, but I still refuse to break out the scale, it is still stashed away. as long as my clothes fit right I am good to go and as far as heartburn, it subsided but yes the last two days with adding the cinnamon extract in the morning my heartburn was horrible. I started drinking100% matcha tea mixed with coconut milk and it is fantastic, my savior for the coffee and creamer replacement cravings, i can usually do 2 of them a day and I am good. I do love the Sweet and Spicy tea, I think I bought them out from the Winn Dixie in my area.. I drink that all day hot and cold. Pretty much all the recipes I followed were delish when I followed the directions and didn't burn stuff. still learning to cook well, can't count how my cuts I have on my thumbs. ughhh So far this Whole30 experience was eye opening for me, I know what causes me to crave food all day long, every commercial break, go get a snack, it was heaven not even caring or being hungry. I must stay away from sugars for sure and artificial ingredients, dairy will be the only reintroduction but probably in a few weeks i will try it.
