This has been really fun and exciting for me so far, I love supporting local farmers and this gives me even more reason to do so.  I have slowly gained a bit of weight over the last year and I am getting married in November.  I went from 175 a few years ago to 220 when I started.  I rarely weigh myself, and I can feel that I am thinner already, it's amazing!  I felt bad for my fiancee before the irritability phase was over, haha.

I had some friends over this weekend and made sweet potato chili, it was a blast!  It helps so much to surround yourself with support.  I am excited to contribute to this forum and learn even more great recipes.

Welcome! Supporting local farmers is a passion of mine as well, and I love learning about sustainable farming (ever heard of Joel Salatin? His books are a hoot to read, and they're packed with valuable, practical info!). What kind of produce do you buy locally? I'm still a kid living at home, so my mom does most of the buying around here... but we get locally raised beef, chicken, turkey, pork, raw dairy (which I'm not eating at the moment ;) ), and eggs as well as tons of veggies and fruit from our farmer's market and local farms! I've been blessed to be able to have a garden this summer, and it's such a joy to be providing food for my family that I grew myself.  :D

If you want, you can join a group of us who started our Whole30s around the 23rd/24th/25th of August over here! Keep up the good work!

The selection is pretty limited depending on the time of year, but, there are some great farmer's markets in the Detroit area.  I buy venison locally (actually my brother in law has 10 acres and can hunt on his property), corn (when not on whole 30), cherries, and then carrots, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes etc.  I used to buy eggs but now buy them at Costco to keep up the demand in my house!  I am planning on starting a garden for next season, I am jealous!  I will see you over there :).
