Tomato Sauce

We just buy canned tomatoes. Kroger carries a few brands that are just tomato. Add a ton of spices. Basil, oregano, salt, pepper. Let it simmer for at least an hour. We purée the tomatoes, but you can skip this step if you like it chunky. We alternate between fresh herbs and dried herbs depending on what our garden is producing. You can also add red pepper for some heat. We make large amounts and freeze it. We just made some that also had beef broth in it (used some we made) and it had a rich flavor.
