Saturday was hard cleaning out the refrigerator/freezer/pantry, but man did it feel great after it was done.  It really does help out with temptation and decisions for sure.  Then we went grocery shopping.  Sunday we did all our prep. Come Monday we were ready and it felt great!

Yesterday was Day 1 all over again,(after 1 week of success) why again you ask, my husband and I are doing this together and he was reading the Whole30 website and after 25 years of dipping tobacco and (me encouraging him to quit) he said "If I don't quit dipping then I won't really be participating in the Whole30." Well if I had known this is what it took, we could have done this a lifetime ago. So kudos to him but not so much kudos to me. When I found out he wanted to start all over again, even though it was only after a week, Saturday night at 9pm I was awake and hungry and the hubby was sleeping so what do I do, I call our local pizza joint and order bread sticks with cheese sauce and of course cinnamon sugar breadsticks for my sweet tooth. DUMB....the next morning I woke up and my face was all puffy, my eyes looked horrible. I thought this was interesting because I never felt like I had any food allergies but it was clear that there was something in those bready breadsticks, HaHa, that effected me. NOW restarting Whole30 I am putting myself through the fatigue and headaches once again because I did that to myself, SIGH!

Goals: 1-Eat dinner 5 nights a week at the table   2-Have game night once per week and turn off the tv  3-exercise 3 times per week

Day 1 journal entry:

Day 1 Breakfast (8am) = 3 eggs with sausage (nitrate free from the butchers) kale and red pepper scramble, delicious

                              Hot tea=no stevia

I am extremely tired and grumpy. Every sound and person is driving me nuts.

WALKED = 45 minutes

Lunch (1pm) Grilled flank steak with lime juice

Fresh pico de gallo  ( I made with tomatoes, jalepeno, cilantro, lime, onion, garlic, salt & pepper)

1/2 sweet potato hash (with nitrate free bacon,  onion)

                       Sautéed Endive

                      1 cup of grapes

I am nasty and have a headache

5pm I treat myself to a cup of freshly squeezed OJ from Luckys, best treat all day, I let the dogs outside, I was alone and sat in my glider and had 15 minutes to myself and was just lovely.

6pm Ate with my husband at the kitchen table (one of our mutual goals) our stuffed peppers (stuffed with diced tomatoes, yellow squash, onion, basil, carrots, and celery, they are just wonderful-it is a Paleo recipe

        1 cup watermelon

        5 green olives

        1/2 sliced fresh tomato

        1/2 sliced avocado

7pm Raspberry seltzer water from Kroger (I really like it)

I made it through the day but I am mad that I can't have a sweetener in my coffee

I was so extremely tired I went to bed at 8pm

I have started day 2 and its better, but I will journal that tomorrow after I complete day 2 :)

Hi Ms Grump Alot.

I'm afraid I might make you grump some more when I tell you that OJ is fine for use in cooking (think sweetening sauces, marinading etc), but not for drinking...

Not a reason for a re-set, but definitely a possibility for keeping that sugar dragon alive so no more OJ for the next 29 days.

Sorry!

(It'll be worth it!!)

Day 2 was okay, I was hungry today between breakfast and lunch, so I ate about 20 black pepper cashews. I ate them slowly and drank lots of water with them and felt much, much better. I wasn't as exhausted last night, tired, but not exhausted. I did wake up at 3am hungry and once I wake up hungry there is no sleep to come. I got up with the dogs and took my book to the couch and made a big glass of iced water and grabbed a teeny tiny container and put some sunflower seeds in it and munched on those. I was then able to go back to sleep for an hour and 1/2.

In the morning yesterday I ate my:

(8am) egg scramble, with 2 eggs, kale, sausage (whole30 approved)and red bellpepper, banana, and hot tea.

(830) Raspberry seltzer water

(10am) 20 black pepper cashews and water

(1pm) Leftover stuffed pepper, pico de gallo, grapes..........yummy

(645) Baked porkchop, broccolini, watermelon, seltzer water

Im in a good mood right now and I am looking through the Wellfed book 1 and 2 cookbooks, LOVE THEM for quick recipes with different spices.

See you all tomorrow

Try upping the size of your breakfast if you're finding you're getting hungry before lunch. We ideally want your digestive system to have a break between meals - and it is after the 4hr window (or thereabouts) that your body will start turning to fat stores for fuel.

If you really must snack (as in the leg of your desk is looking pretty appetizing) try a mini meal/snack made up of at least two of the three food groups - protein, fats & veggies.

Just check the oil on your cashews for off plan ingredients.

Day 3 was better....

I woke up hungry but in a good mood. Was happy after eating my (8am) egg scramble, with kale, red pepper, and sausage. Banana and hot tea. I did feel another headache coming on so I took Excedrin.

11:30am had a salad with chopped cabbage, red cabbage, grapes, sunflower seeds, with oil and red wine vinegar.

12pm for lunch leftover porkchop, broccolini, seltzer water.

I really felt good yesterday. I am angry because I do want bad stuff and I have to say this is the first time my self control is in check.

It is easier for me because I know I have a choice and what is 30 days, currently 2 friends that I work with recently found out they have breast cancer. They are so strong and positive that I really should be ashamed for complaining. However this is when I think about what an addiction I have with food because we know the crap we put into our bodies and usually are just fine with doing just that. I know I did not make good choices but 24 hours a day I think about food. I have a lot of support at work (for the most part) there are a few people who say "its okay if you just have half or a few bites" NO ITS NOT because I just want to eat the entire box of donuts or the darn Panera bagels people are constantly bringing to work. There is one coworker who loves to torture me and forward emails to me of pumpkin lattes, muffins, ice cream, and cheesecake because this year everyone is confused about the time of year, it is still summer people, not fall.....HOLD THE SUGARY PUMPKIN TREATS. I have told myself once I get through this I can make the paleo pumpkin muffins and that makes me smile.

415pm I ate the remainder of my grapes from lunch and it felt so naughty because they tasted so delicious..

6pm we had one of our favorite paleo meals: Chicken alfredo...chicken tenders cut into bite size pieces with spices, served with spaghetti squash and coconut milk (just the creamy dreamy part that floats to the top of the can) and a delicata squash but in this case an acorn squash (which makes this dish cream along with the coconut milk) and topped with fried bacon (NO NItrates) to top it off.....this is such a yummy recipe. A handful of green olives and a bowl of watermelon.

So my first night of the "I think I'm hungry lets snack" I felt so bad afterwards.....I ate pumpkin seeds in the shell, so it was some work getting to the seed, but that is half of the fun for me, but I ate Waaaaaaaaaay too many and then I ate a banana. I felt crappy afterwards and disappointed in myself. I actually had a tummy ache, so I probably wasn't hungry at all, but used to me something in my mouth while watching tv. I think I am going to have to enforce the rule of NO EATING IN THE LIVING ROOM.

I slept well lastnight and woke up in a good mood.

See you tomorrow,

Day 4 was a breeze. :)

I was excited all day because we had planned to go out to eat because we had a bowling meeting at 6:30pm. I felt great all dayfor breakfast:

730am Egg Scramble and 1/2 banana, hot tea 2 Excedrin

1130am leftover chicken (spaghetti squash) alfredo and seltzer water.

3pm hand of cashews and water

6pm dinner at Cracker Barrel, yes Cracker Barrel.....believe it or not they have a nice 9 pepper sirloin steak (I like mine medium rare: and because they aren't a steak house you have to order it Medium to get it the way I like it) but it is always so nice a spicy with flavor....Baked sweet potato and I just asked for nothing on it and PLAIN cinnamon on the side, with fresh steamed broccoli. We discovered this when we were eating a regular Paleo diet. It is hard to imagine that you can get something at Cracker Barrel that is somewhat healthy, but you can and we are steak lovers so I was nervous the first time, but it is really tasty. In fact we went to Outback, which we have tried several times and every time leave disappointed, the last time we went I said "never again" after returning my steak 3 times....I am much happier spending $10 for a tasty dinner at Cracker Barrel than to spend $20 and be disappointed, at least at cracker barrel I know they are not steak connoisseurs.

8pm seltzer water and 5 grapes

It was a good day and I only had to take Excedrin once.

See you tomorrow , mmmmmmmmmmmmtonight we are having taco salads, we have decided those will be our Friday night go to's!!

Okay, so this will be the log for Fri/Sat/Sun/Monday....

Friday/9/4/2015

730 egg scramble & hot tea

830 banana

I was really hungry today

1145am Grilled chicken breast salad from subway with oil and vinegar/sliced apples, seltzer water/almond butter

5pm taco salads, cilantro/romaine/tomato/black olives/jalapenos/avocado/banana/seltzer water

I was grumpy the entire afternoon and went to bed at 7pm.

Sat 9/5/15

I slept wonderfully until 3am (BECAUSE I WENT TO BED AT 7PM) I did fall back to sleep at 530am and didn't wake up until 10am.

2 scrambled eggs/grapes/hot tea

I am in a much better mood today

1pm leftover taco salad/grapes/seltzer water

5pm dry rubbed ribs (no sugar in the rub) at Chili's/broccoli/spinach and tomato warm salad

8pm pumpkin seeds

Sunday 9/6/2015

10am egg scramble/grapes

2pm 2 tuna boats (tuna in cucumber) watermelon, a handful of sweet potato chips

630p flank steak w/homemade chimichurri sauce/green beans/shrimp/homemade applesauce

we went bowling and had so much fun, I feel so much better. My grumps are starting to dissipate and I am now happy with what I am doing. For awhile I was angry.

Monday 9/7/2015

10am egg scramble/1/2 banana/hot tea

3pm leftover flank steak/shrimp/green beans/applesauce/chimchurri sauce

7pm grilled chicken breast with mango salsa(homemade) / stir fried cauliflower/watermelon

9pm 1 c chicken salad and grapes, I was so hungry and I think it is because today and this entire weekend I was not eating at the proper times. Routine is key at least for me anyway.

I feel like I am getting my act together, thank you so much for the Well fed cookbooks because I love referring to them often. I feel as if my head is starting to come out of the clouds and I am a real person again. The only thing I really miss are my POPCORN and my Moonshine which is NOT an alcoholic drink, it is 1 tablespoon of fresh grated ginger, 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar(with the mother), 1/2 of an orange juiced, 1 tbl stevia, & water. I am too nervous to try it without the stevia. I am not craving ice cream, or really anything.

I did great at the wedding this weekend, no cake for me. I think it really helped that it was an outside wedding in 91 degree weather and we had on our jeans and cowboy boots, it was DARN TOOTIN HOT. The guy who roasted the pig was late, and therefore the bride and groom cancelled because by that time half of the wedding attendees were gone because it was so hot. So that is when hubby took me out to eat at Chili's. So thank Mother Nature for that :)

Hopefully I will keep on Keepin on. I am hopeful that my elbow starts feeling better. I have had surgery on it before for cubital tunnel syndrome and carpal tunnel in my wrist, but it is back in my elbow big time. I am hopeful that a more time into the Whole30 that maybe it will fell better.

See you all tomorrow

630 beef stew-Wellfed cookbook

rice pilaf cauliflower

I haven't been getting many headaches anymore and the Whole30 has become much easier. My husband has to travel next week and will be gone 10 days, that is when I will start worrying because that is when it is so easy to be lazy because who wants to cook for 1 person.

see you tomorrow
