KettleBelle8
Hi, I'm brand new to this and am in the process of compiling recipes before I get started. I'm a little unclear about whether raw honey isn't allowed because of a chemical reason or because of the "sex with your pants on" reason. I'm interested in making a Chinese-style roast pork tenderloin (a Paleo recipe), and it calls for 1/3 cup of raw honey as part of the marinade. Everything else is compliant, and this is in no way a craving/trigger food for me. Would this recipe be compliant? http://www.paleocupboard.com/char-siu-chinese-bbq-pork.html Thanks! Rfisher261
Raw honey is not allowed because it's a sweetener, even though it's a natural one. So no, this marinade would not be compliant on a Whole30. You could replace the honey with puréed pineapple or apple sauce (unsweetened, read the label to make sure there's no added sugar). It won't be exactly the same but the fruit will provide some sweetness to balance out the other favors in the marinade.
KettleBelle8
Thank you! And pineapple sounds like a perfect substitute in this recipe.

KettleBelle8
Will do. I plan on slicing it julienne and adding it to some egg drop soup with bok choy & mushrooms. This plan has me all excited to try a bunch of new recipes!
