Blissfulnewme
I've dabbled in the Paleo lifestyle for about 5 years, and I've known about the Whole30 for a long time, too. I'm so inspired by all the success stories, and I can see the benefits of embarking on this journey, but...I just can't seem to get started! I am going through a painful divorce right now so this is an emotionally tough time, but I would like to experience the benefits I know are possible (especially blood sugar balance, healthy weight, balanced mood, and not being hungry all the time...plus a bunch of other annoying symptoms!) Any suggestions on how to find the motivation to get started? The divorce court date is coming up in a few weeks. I'm wondering if I should just wait until that day passes... Thank you! MeadowLily
Do you have 30 days before the DCD? If so, I say start now. If you don't do it this month, you'll be one month older when you do. I believe it will give you courage to face the day.
Blissfulnewme
Thanks! It's in 24 days. I originally wanted to start last month so I could be ready for that day and the next chapter of my new life...but I've been too emotionally drained to find the drive to do it. I wish I could flip a switch and just go for it!
MeadowLily
Flip the switch. You have 24 days. By that time you should have a euphoria bump...Tiger Blood. All of the timeline tough days are behind you. I'd go for it and I wouldn't look back. That's just how I roll. On Day 24, you'll still have 6 days of great eating to reinforce you and steel you up. You won't want to cave in and fall back into old foods that won't make you feel worth two hoots. Yes, Blissfulnewme...I'd go for it.
Blissfulnewme
Thanks so much!! That's awesome! Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the whole program, I can take it one day or one meal at a time. I really want to feel good again! Thanks for the courage and inspiration! QuilterInVA
It might help you emotionally to start now and have control over at least one thing in your life. Most of us had doubts before starting, at least I did, but this has been the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. I used to think about food all the time. I'd be finishing one meal while thinking about what I could eat next. Now I eat my meal and its 4-5 hours before I even begin to feel hungry and the food is so good my body is loving it. You can do this. We are here to help you! Susan K

Seafarer
Worst case scenario..... really!... the worst case that can happen right now is that you start right away and in 24 days you lose it and have to re-start for another 30 days. I'm strongly betting that won't happen, but why not have 23 days in the bank that you can call on for experience? Couldn't hurt. Will definitely help. You go girl! Blissfulnewme
Thanks Seafarer! I'm towards the end of Day 1 and it's going great! I'm so proud and happy that I decided to go for it! It's actually pretty cool because this is something positive to focus on. It's empowering! Thanks for the encouragement! This forum rocks!!! mariah_papaya
GO FOR IT! Start tomorrow! I started this in the middle of a cross-continental move, with a 10-month old baby, while doing my Masters degree, and starting a brand new job that's waaaaay out of my league. And thank GOD I did! I would be a quivering mess if I wasn't so on top of my game right now, feeling energetic, optimistic, healthy, and AWESOME! I feel like I can tackle anything! My sense of self-efficacy is through the roof.
