llu2003
I work in very close proximity to people. What do you use in place of gum or mints? Thanks!

texasbred
Cucumber is an excellent breath freshener. I keep a baggie with sliced cucumber at my desk at work and people are always saying how good it smells. I just pop one in my mouth and voila.....fresh natural breath. QuilterInVA
Parsley is also good to freshen the breath or mint tea.
Tled
Uh oh... I have been chewing gum occassionally (I think my breath REALLY stinks more on this diet than ever). I am not going to start over because of it, but will stop chewing gum now that I know.
Moderators LadyM Posted September 15, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2015 The best thing you can do for fresh breath is to cultivate a healthy gut. Yes, that means eat real food, drink plenty of water (preferably between meals so as not to dilute digestive juices), and cultivate good digestion and elimination. Whole 30, in time, should lend itself to that. However, if you're skimping on starchy veg and other higher-carb items, you may unintentionally shift your body into ketosis, which will make your breath stink. Chewing gum would merit a restart in my book, but it's up to you: http://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/
Tled
I stopped chewing gum once I realized the mistake. I have been bringing cucumbers to work in the hopes that it helps. I think you're right about ketosis. I have added sweet potatoes to my daily diet. I just couldn't bare the thought of having to start over... I'm on day 14 and barely hanging on as it is. healthycrone
WOW! drops were the only breath freshener I found to be compliant. (i bought mine off Amazon) I had a minor addiction, it seems, to Breath Savers mints and I was quite concerned about the possibility of offending my colleagues, too, whild doing my Whole30. I'm not a fan of cucumbers and didn't feel the parsley was a good option after finding a few pieces stuck in my teeth. WOW drops are peppermint oil & chlorophyll, nothing else. Go easy - a tiny drop is all you need. A little goes a long way and too much at a time is quite unpleasant. But, used judiciously, it works and it's compliant. Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted September 25, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2015 It's also an option to brush your teeth after you eat. Lots of people do it at my workplace.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted September 25, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 25, 2015 It's also an option to brush your teeth after you eat. Lots of people do it at my workplace. Me! I do it! It's one of my little personal pleasures! And, if I feel like I want to hide from work for just a little longer, I'll floss too. Win-win! LOL!
