A question about portion sizes regarding fat

So in the Whole30 book it has recommended sizes for protein and fruit and vegetables, but in terms of fat it is unclear to me. It says a thumb sized or two of cooking oils and so on, but are we only supposed to have one serving of fat per meal? Because that would not seem to work out with the guidelines in the books and recipes. Also would that apply to sauces and dressings as well? Thanks in advance!

The recommendations for fat are a minimum requirement and the cooking fat generally stays in the pan. It is very hard to overeat fat so if you cook something in fat, feel free to add another source of fat to the final meal. Mayo-based dressings etc you would obviously be eating more than just a thumb sized amount.
