Lazybonesjones
I'm on day 7 of my 2nd Whole30. The first was about a year and a half ago. Every single morning I wake up stuffy, which is a problem I had previously attributed to dairy, and feel sick and almost hung over until I eat something. Which is hard to do when you want to puke. The stuffiness could be from dust allergies or that I'm back to work with kids since school started. I don't know about the feeling sick. I'm pretty sure I'm eating enough, I follow the meal template and I try not to eat dinner too early or too late. I don't remember feeling sick every morning last time. And no, there is no way I'm pregnant. I do have Adrenal Insufficiency and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Occasionally I have reactive hypoglycaemia but that's not what this feels like. Anyways, here's an example of my meals and maybe hopefully someone has some advice for me because this sucks! B - 2 eggs fried in coconut oil, ground turkey, butternut squash, carrot and mushroom hash with coffee and coconut milk and maybe a piece of fruit L - chicken, greens, tomatoes, home made dressing (avocado oil, blended pepperoncini peppers) carrots and guacamole S - if I have one, compliant beef jerky & roasted seaweed D - sausage, peppers, roasted potatoes, sauerkraut & salad (fat is cooked with the veggies) I drink a ton of water, and probably a couple more coffees throughout the day. GFChris
Overall, your food looks ok, although it's hard for me to determine portions. Aim for 1-2 palms of protein, 1-3 cups of veggies and the appropriate amount of compliant fat per meal. Get in at least a fist-sized serving of carb-dense vegetables daily. The seaweed wouldn't be very filling as a sole veg - I'd add another veg to that meal. I'm thinking your symptoms have nothing to do with what you are or are not eating. Perhaps you have a cold or allergies as you pointed out, given the change of seasons? Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted September 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 16, 2015 Sorry you are feeling bad. Your fat might be just a tad bit low, though probably not the reason behind your woes. A lot of cooking oil stays in the pan unless you scrape it out on top of your food, so keep that in mind. I often feel queasy if I am getting really hungry -- to echo GFChris it's hard to tell if you are eating enough at Meal 2 & Meal 3 (Your Meal 1 looks great). For me, who has always been a big portion eater, I often have to eat till pretty darn full to get enough in. Maybe try eating a little more at Meal 3 and see if that helps. I'd also suspect that food might not be the culprit here. Think about anything else that has changed. New pillowcases/sheets? Laundry detergent? Any other factors? Lazybonesjones
I try to follow the portion guidelines, I think I add a good amount of fat. This morning I added extra coconut oil to my breakfast and that seemed to help keep me full until lunch. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think my lunch is big enough. I get really hot at work and so it's hard to eat a big meal/be hungry I find. But then I'm starving by the time I get home. And I think you're right. Perhaps one of my medical conditions is acting up, I've also been ridiculously sweaty. Thanks for the advice.
