Think I accidentally consumed carageenan

So I bought chicken breast that was on sale before I started the program. I have been cooking it up and eating it the whole time. I'm on day six. Well, today I went to buy more and it says "contains 15% or less of sodium, chicken broth, and carageenan." It's actually the same brand, but these were in a package. The ones I bought were straight from the meat counter. Does that make a difference? Nice. So, do I need to start over on day 1 because of this little accidental ingestion?

Thank you so much!

Yes it would be highly recommended that you do so - however it is up to you http://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/

Carageenan unfortunately is a pretty bad gut disrupter - yes even in tiny small amounts.  The whole idea of the Whole 30 is to heal your body by eliminating foods that cause gut disruption.

Now there are a few ways you can approach this:

1.  Today is day 7 of your whole 36 - meaning you just tack on days without "restarting" so to speak.  Some people handle this concept better than actually telling themselves it's day one

2.  Start over.  Today is day 1 again.

I don't know how to avoid this in the future. I try to buy right from the meat counter but most of the time they say they aren't sure what all is in it. And most of the meat (ground beef) doesn't even list ingredients from what I can see. I thought chicken straight from the counter would be good to go.

Cook the chicken breast yourself.

This is a great recipe: http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/2009/06/09/the-best-chicken-you-will-ever-eat-ever/

But in a pinch I'll just chuck some breasts or thighs on a baking sheet and cook them at 375 for 25 minutes. It tastes better to me than packaged lunch meat-style chicken breast just like that.

These were actual straight chicken breasts in the meat counter not deli.

Seriously?! There are better options for plain chicken breasts out there, then, for sure. If you can't find them at the meat counter, check the freezer case or try a different store.

I guess I'm pretty spoiled by my co-op.  :o Sorry I just assumed you were getting the pre-cooked stuff.

Honestly, I'd complain to the store, in addition to finding other chicken. There's no excuse for the employees at the Deli not having access to the ingredients in the food they're serving. It should be on the back of the price tag on the tray.
