Kco
I'm trying to do low FODMAPs. I know cabbage is a no no but I love sauerkraut with my hot dogs and I love the probiotics it provides. Is it still a no no for low FODMAPs?
LucieB
I have heard that real fermented sauerkraut is better tolerated for FODMAP. That said, I haven't had luck with it. Everyone is individual for FODMAP limits so you'll have to test for yourself.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 19, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 19, 2015 No. If you are doing low FODMAPS, do low FODMAPS. You can test sauerkraut after 30 days.

Mamatutu
http://bodyecology.com/articles/the-low-fodmap-diet-warning-for-ibs-and-sibo-sufferers I can have sauerkraut with no digestive complaints and struggle with green cabbage (but not red oddly). This article explains that the fermentation process in pickling 'pre-digests' the cabbage to make it tolerable for those following a FODMAP diet. As with all things on the FODMAP plan take it in teeny tiny steps and measure your OWN tolerance before going for a heaping serving. Good luck
