darrocs
Hello everyone! I am a 45 year old Army retiree. I retired 6 years ago and after 21 years on Active Duty, I let myself get a little too tubby! I have a couple of friends who have been doing the Whole30 thing for over a year and I see the great results they have, but I have just been too lazy/weak/dumb (insert applicable failure here) to follow through past a couple days of the program in the past. I am sick of being 30 pounds heavier than I was when I left the Army, so it is time to do something about it...FOR REAL THIS TIME! Wish me luck!! darrocs
Ha ha jmcbn! Well continuing to eat like I was still as active as I was in the Army was my first mistake!
jmcbn
Well you've come to the right place - the Moderators can be like your worst Sergeant Major, making sure to keep you in line....
darrocs
Do you mind if I ask a question...just to clarify something. I read the Whole30 book over the weekend and while it says fruits are allowed, I didn't see (or remember reading anyway) a particular number of servings of fruits p/day. I know the veggie intake should be through the roof...just wasn't sure about fruits....
jmcbn
THe recommendation for fruits is to limit them to 1-2 servings per day, with or as part of a meal. Many people, especiallly those with a Sugar Dragon, choose not to eat fruit at all as they tend to keep the cravings alive.Personally if I eat any it's more like garnish on a salad, or included in a curry or something.Play around with it & see how you go - if you're reaching for fruit at the end of every meal in place of a dessert then you probably need to limit it.... It is a program that works - my husband and I finished our first Whole 30 last week. He is type 2 diabetic and a few days in was taken off 2 med and I found my knees not hurting and my skin is smoother. We both lost weight and our clothes are looser. Good luck. And I too want to thank you for your service!!
