Cbiggs85
Help! Strict grocery budget this week and I'm looking for cheap meals that you have tried and liked. Thanks in advance!
JulieP757
I LOVE this stuff. I use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce, skip the sweetener all together and add red pepper flakes for some heat. Delish! http://www.food.com/recipe/crack-slaw-low-carb-434863
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted September 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 22, 2015 Salmon cakes! 1 large can of salmon, drained2 eggs, beaten1 tsp garlic, minced1/2 bunch green onions, chopped2 tsp Dijon mustardpaprika, rosemary and black pepper to taste (I sub oregano for the rosemary and a dusting of turmeric, cayenne and black pepper)3 tbsp ghee or coconut oil for cookingThen, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and gently stir together until well combined. Melt ghee or coconut oil in a large pan over medium heat. Once melted, scoop salmon mixture onto hot surface in four patties. It’s okay to form the patties directly on the pan, just push everything together with a wooden spoon or spatula so your patties are secure and don’t fall apart when flipping.Once one side has browned, flip them over and brown the other side. The good news is the salmon is already pre-cooked so you don’t have to be concerned about undercooking or getting sick.
frogtox
I find spiralizing either zucchini or a butternut squash and making a simple marinara is relatively cheap. And, it's pretty versatile so if you want to serve the rest of your family traditional pasta you can do that.

MrsMarks
Spaghetti Sauce (Homemade is super cheap)- Frozen Meatballs (Again homemade)- and a spaghetti squash in the croc pot for 6-8 hours on low. Shred squash with a fork after done cooking and serve with sauce over it.
Maryanne76
I loved the chili that is in the book. Ground turkey is great over spaghetti squash, with sauce and more veggies. Boneless chicken in the crock covered with diced tomatoes, green pepper, and onion. Add a little hot sauce, if you like.
Seafarer
Anything with eggs. No reason to have them only at breakfast. Egg & sausage casserole. Carrot (or pumpkin, or squash) souffle. Deviled eggs. Frogtox's idea of spiralizing zucchini is fantastic too. If you haven't made zucchini noodles, you are in for a treat!
halfpint_aggie
Frittata with whatever veggies are on sale. Or just with caramelized onions in there and then cheap frozen veg on the side.

careyglenn
cakes and cookies.
QuilterInVA
I'm hoping you meant that as a joke. There is nothing cheap about cakes and cookies. The damage they do to your health is costly in the long run. Poor nutrition takes its toll. Around here, cakes are about $8 and cookies are $4.00 for 8 if you want them to taste like something besides cardboard. Nothing cheap about that. Yesterday I hit the jackpot at the store - compliant tuna 3 cans for $1.00. I got 10 cans - the limit.
