kkelley1023
I have a "woe was me" type of issue. I'm on day 59. I fully intended to stop at day 30, but I've just felt no desire to change the way I'm eating. It just feels right to me now -- this is the best I've felt in my whole life (among other things, my severe asthma and persistent stomach issues have completely vanished). I went the first two weeks only losing a couple pounds, then starting in my third week the weight just started falling off. I've dropped 20 pounds and was not overweight in the first place (let's just say my BMI is now 20). I didn't start the Whole30 to lose weight, but figured I would. I have been eating plenty of food (trust me on this one), including high-calorie foods like avocados and seeds. No matter what I do, I keep losing weight. Has anyone else experienced this? My body seems to just be burning calories so efficiently now. I do exercise, but it's not over the top by any means!
JulieP757
I've noticed that I've slimmed down a bit since I started following the Whole 30 template, even though I was already at an ideal weight for me. If you are losing weight that you don't want to lose, you probably need to post exactly what you are eating. You've indicated that you are eating a lot of food, but are you adding starchy vegetables and sufficient fat to your meals? Are you eating fruit? It could also be that you need a M4. Moderators ShannonM816 Posted September 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 23, 2015 As JulieP757 said, it would be helpful to see what you're eating to help give you some pointers on things to change, so if you could post a couple of days of typical meals, including approximate portion size, water intake, sleep, and exercise, that would be helpful. In general, though, if you're dropping weight you don't need to, you're probably not eating enough. Read through this article about keeping weight on during a Whole30 and see if you can incorporate any of the suggestions there. Be sure you're eating at the upper end of the meal template range (two palm sized protein portions, two thumb sized fat portions, and aim for 3 or more cups of vegetables at each meal). Saree_maree
BMI is not a perfect measurement, but generally speaking, a BMI of 20 is great. If you have some way of measuring your body fat percentage that would be a more helpful indicator. So unless you are unhappy with your appearance (you personally feel you look too thin) or you have no energy or you continue to lose weight unintentionally at a rapid rate, there may not be anything to worry about. And just gonna throw out there that rapid or unexplained/unintentional weight loss may have nothing to do with your diet, or may not be wholly explained by diet. You may wanna get your thyroid function checked out, for example. As always, if you're concerned, your best bet is to see your doctor.
