ShanPlan
Hello Whole30 Forum, I successfully completed my first W30 in May 2015 and felt incredible. I lost over 9 inches, had clear skin, healthier nails, better sleep and overall looked healthy and felt great. Fast forward a few months and I haven't been as diligent with my diet and exercise. I have slowly slipped back into old habits (and gained weight) and I am just not feeling all that great. I know that another round of Whole30 is what my body is craving, but I am struggling to get my act together and commit to 30 days. I keep making excuses related to upcoming events and celebrations (i.e. a friends wedding in Oct, camping trip with friends and my birthday Oct 26). I can't seem to find the 'magic' 30-day window where I won't be tempted. I know this sounds ridiculous (I realize that as I am typing it), but I am still struggling to get round #2 going. I know the benefits, I know it's only 30 days, and I know I will reap the benefits in how I look and feel, but I am still stalling. :-( Does anyone out there have any advice for me or has experienced something similar? I need a swift kick in the pants my Forum Friends. Help a fellow Whole30er out. Thanks in advance! Shannon Orange County, CA
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted September 25, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2015 Most of us have been there! You're right, there really is no perfect window. There are obvious events (like your own wedding or a trip to France or December holidays) that you'd want to work around, but other than those type of events, nothing else really justifies eating unhealthy foods, does it? And what does it say about our culture that one is expected to drink/eat unhealthy foods to celebrate/fit in? Food for thought! There's no real easy trick. You just have to write down the reasons it's important for you to Whole30, set a date, plunge in and do it. Once you've begun, remember that keeping promises to yourself is important to your self-worth. It also helps to find a buddy doing it at the same time. ShanPlan
@ultrarunnergirl - Thank you for your reply! You are so right. Why is it that you have to conform to eating/drinking unhealthy foods to celebrate/fit in? Why is it that the whole30 way of eating is so strange for people and the cause of questions/comments? I am going to set a date and dive on in. Thanks for the encourgement! Shannon
kruddock
The longer you put it off the harder it will be. I'm on my second Whole30 but I only had a 4 week break in between and that includes reintroduction so I was really sticking to it longer than 30 days. So the benefits of how I felt on my first Whole30 is still fresh in my mind. Just remember how great you felt, aren't you worth that extra effort? and what a great way to celebrate your birthday! You might be surprised at how people react, they might really respect how dedicated you are to your health and if they don't it doesn't matter, because your health is what matters!
