catricya
Hi guys, So far, I've reintroed everything except cruciferous veggies. Legumes: Gas/bloat/indigestion the next day. Dairy: Slight gas the next day. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Non-gluten grains: Naseau two days following (pretty sure this was medicine related.)Gluten: Oh god, headaches and slightly drunk feeling, totally out of it the next day. Not worth it. Now I also took out cruciferous veggies (which I will try on Sunday) and nightshades. I've reintro'd nightshades twice now (couldn't resist the guac bar at lunch.) Both times I've eaten nightshades, I've gotten a runny nose and itchy eyes. For real. Does this mean I'm allergic? I really miss nightshades so much and the runny nose and itchy eyes are fine as far as I'm concerned. Could there be larger health impacts I'm missing? Administrators ladyshanny Posted October 2, 2015 Administrators Share Posted October 2, 2015 Are you reintroducing nightshades one food at a time (ie, onions on one day and then tomatoes 3-4 days later)? Or are you basically focussed on avocado? You could possibly have an oral allergy to avocado which would include itching, inflammation and swelling (all of which could be related to your runny nose). I'm not a doctor but I would suggest that you try the avocado and if you have a reaction to it as you've described, wait until it passes and either try it again to make sure or try another nightshade and see what happens. There's no rule that if you have sensitivity to one nightshade that you would have it to all of them. Again, not a doctor. If you are concerned about the potential of an actual allergy that would be health threatening, see your doctor first.
catricya
It's not the avocado/onion. That's not a nightshade. It's the green peppers (guac dippers), jalepenos and tomatoes.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted October 2, 2015 Administrators Share Posted October 2, 2015 Oh, I know that avocado is not a nightshade but was wondering if you were having issues with it since you mentioned guacamole specifically. I would still test the items individually if you want to see if there are some you can get away with.

Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 2, 2015 Moderators Share Posted October 2, 2015 Are you seriously saying that having a runny nose and itchy eyes is okay in order to eat a particular food? I'm shaking my head in disbelief.
catricya
I'm not sure I'm even allowed to live in Texas if I don't eat jalepenos, hot peppers or tomato. In fact, I'm pretty sure everyone here is exposed to those things second-hand through the air, all day every day. I'm kidding, of course.
