msame213
Hi guys. I'm reasonably clued up when it comes to healthy eating, paleo (although I haven't committed to it before), few carbs, eating clean etc, but I'm not sure where to start when it comes to portion sizes with whole 30. Are there guidelines somewhere around how much of certain things you're allowed to eat? For example - dried fruit - yum - but I know it's not going to be ok to smash a bag of dried cranberries after dinner. Same with Olive Oil on salads, and portion size of steak? It would be great if someone could shed some light for me. thank you
GFChris
The Whole30 meal template is your friend. http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf For best results, build each meal to have 1-2 palms of protein, 1-3 cups of veggies and the recommended amount of compliant fat. Play with portion sizes to get to a place where your meals satiate you for 4-5 hours. Have your first meal of the day within 1 hour of waking. Dried fruit is optional and recommended to be limited, because it can be like candy (double check ingredients for compliance). If you're going to have it, best to use as a condiment on a salad. msame213
Thanks guys. I'm now getting very familiar with the rules, template and timeline.... It's a seismic shift to not freak out about portion sizes though. 3 more weekends seems like a long time. Especially when one of them is a long weekend and I'll soooo be dying for a glass of wine! Haha I'm filling my spare time with cooking, reading this forum and generally being peaceful. It's a nice adjustment when everything in life is so hectic.
