Hollyhales
First day today, feel positive but nervous about breakfasts as I don't like eggs!
jmcbn
Don't be nervous! It will really help if you start thinking in terms of meals one, two & three - that way anything you eat for meals two or three you can eat for meal one as well. Try googling 'whole30 non egg breakfasts' or take a look at >this thread< for some meal one inspiration....
GreenThumbGal
My first day too! I actually did about half of a Whole30 in May 2014, so I have a little experience coming into this new one. I agree with the recommendation of shaking off long-held notions about what "breakfast food" is. It's just a meal. Eat healthy food that makes you feel great! This morning I'm having an Aidell's chicken & apple sausage with a sweet potato. I have scrambled eggs too but you could totally skip them in this scenario and have something else instead! (Another vegetable, some fruit, etc.) You might also try this recipe (hopefully nuts are not an issue for you): http://againstallgrain.com/2013/01/04/banana-nut-porridge/ Best of luck! GreenThumbGal
Forgot to add...my FAVORITE Whole30 breakfast is cooked cubed sweet potato cooked with ground sausage (sweet potato hash!). You could add some cubed apple to that too, if you like! It's difficult to find compliant sausage so you might be better off with just buying ground pork and seasoning to your taste. I could NOT make it through Whole30 without my go-to cookbooks: Well Fed and Well Fed 2 by Melissa Joulwan. HIGHLY recommend you check them out! jmcbn
You might also try this recipe (hopefully nuts are not an issue for you): http://againstallgrain.com/2013/01/04/banana-nut-porridge/ Sorry, but this is very fat heavy, lacks protein & doesn't really meet the recommended meal template of protein, fats & veggies - so whilst compliant it's probably best to leave this until after your Whole30....
