eao249
Hi! I'm in my last week of my first Whole30. I've had to restart a few times so this is a big accomplishment for me, and I'm looking forward to crossing the finish line at the end of the week! I've noticed a lot of positive changes. I've lost weight. I'm sleeping better, and I have notice an improvement in the chronic pain I have been struggling with (as the result of old injuries that haven't healed properly) that I suspect is the result of systemic inflammation. However, the pain is not gone entirely, and it did flare up a bit recently, probably because I ran without stretching. I wasn't even exercising. I just jogged fro like have of a block to get out of the rain, but that was enough to aggravate my adductor strain. I initially injured this muscle almost 2 years ago and have been to physical therapy and everything. I haven't been doing the stretches I'm supposed to do at home consistently. And I need to do that because I believe it will help. Anyway, I'm wondering since I have seen some improvements but not 100% improvement, should I keep going beyond the 30 days or should I still some some improvements by sticking to a mostly Whole30ish diet for the long term, with some indulgences. I'm thinking a glass of wine or two a week and on off plan "treat" I think it really worth it once or twice a week.

If you're leaning toward the latter, I suggest reintroducing the off-plan foods/drinks you'd like to consume again one at a time, so you can assess the physical and psychological impact on you, to decide whether they're truly worth it. eao249
Thanks! I guess my question is, do some people continue to see an improvement in their symptoms after the finish their Whole30 if they stick to a mostly Whole30 diet (with some indulgences)? Or will you typically only continue to see improvements in health conditions if you continue with a strict Whole30 diet?

It's hard to give a general answer here, as each Whole30 is an experiment of n=1. I'm not trying to be difficult: you'd just need to experiment with the off-plan foods you'd like to try and see whether/how they impact you.
