maripat
I started a 30 day "sugar cleanse" about 2.5 weeks ago and am doing fine. Heard about Whole30 last week and realized that I'm essentially doing a Whole30 (Paleo, no processed foods or added sugar, low carb), but fear I'm not getting nearly enough vegetables with each meal. I checked out the template, but I'm a "hard and fast" rule kinda girl and need measuring sizes so that I know what I'm supposed to be eating. Are we talking 2 cups of veges at each meal? 3 cups? How many vegetables make up the PERFECT Whole30 meal? Thanks, guys!
Carlaccini
Rule of thumb for veg is aim for 1 to 3 cups of veg with each meal. One cup is good. Two is better 3 or more is excellent. Also keep in mind that we tend to digest cooked veg a bit better than raw. Another thing is if a salad is to be a meal - it should be huge (think mixing bowl size) as greens cooked and wilted down would not add up to much veg. maripat
Thanks, Carlaccini. That definitely clears things up. I'm loving my salads, and I do make them HUGE, but generally only do that for one meal a day. My most recent salad only has .5 avocado, 2 cups of spinach, 1 tomato, .5 cup cilantro, some red onions and lime juice/olive oil as a dressing. The problem I'm having is getting a good amount of veges at other meals. I'll ramp up the veges! Thanks, again.
