bevy
I'm on Day 9 and feeling good. I had headaches on day 2-3, which I expected from reading other people's notes. On Day 7 I realized that the ringing in my ear has gone away -- this feels like a miracle and a huge validation! I've had tinnitus constantly in one ear for the past 5 years. I've had a hoarse voice for several months which my doctor told me is a symptom of acid reflux. My voice has gotten so much better since I started my Whole30, it's almost back to normal. Also I'm noticing my appetite is "smoother", I feel satisfied and not bloated after I eat (even if I've eaten a lot of food and feel very full), and I don't get overly hungry or snacky, and (so far) no cravings. I'm enjoying cooking and feeling proud of myself for packing lunches to take to work. The tough part has been managing dining out and one sit-down dinner for a work event. I've been pleasantly surprised by how helpful restaurant folks have been. I call ahead with my list and so far everyone has been very accommodating. So many good things and I'm only a little over a week into it...Can't wait to see what is next!
bevy
Today is Day 16. I don't have much appetite these days, but I don't mind. I'm making sure to eat meals that are big enough and 5-6 hours apart. I'm wondering if decreased appetite could be a sign that my metabolism is getting used to using fat for fuel? I had a bacterial and then fungal infection last week and took antibiotics and an antifungal. The ringing in my ear has come back a bit, but less intensely and only intermittently (it used to be constant). Maybe something has "snuck in" to my restaurant meals, or maybe it's related to being sick/the meds I took. I'm feel much better but am still very tired. Normally being this tired would make me crave (and eat) a bunch of sweets. Last night I was exhausted and a little hungry at the end of the night. Normally that might mean a bowl of granola followed by several more. Last night I chose some baby carrots and a small handful of purple grapes. And I didn't overdo it. That felt really good - what a difference! Another thing I really like is that I'm eating TONS of vegetables, and have been exploring the farmer's market near my office. Rainbow chard, Liberty apples, ruby red sweet potatoes. Yum! Can't believe I'm halfway through already!

You really shouldn't be very tired anymore at this point (unless you have other factors going on, like kids who don't let you sleep or lots of stress or some medical condition that's affecting your sleep). If you want, you could list a couple of days' worth of meals, including approximate portion sizes, water intake, exercise, and sleep and see if anything leaps out that might need tweaking. Other than that, try to include at least a fist-sized serving of starchy vegetables each day -- some people find they sleep better if they have starchy vegetables in their final meal of the day. Eat breakfast within an hour of waking up to help regulate cortisol levels throughout the day. Drink plenty of water, aiming for 1/2 oz per pound of body weight, so a 120 lb person would need to aim at least 60 oz a day.
