Trying to get pregnant

I have started the whole 30 and am on day 5. It was all going well and I was on track. Then yesterday I started to feel very nauseous, even the thought of food makes me sick. I tried eating breakfast thinking if I got food in me it may help but I almost threw up. My husband and I are also trying to get pregnant. I'm wondering if this was a bad idea to start the whole 30 at the same time, any suggestions?

Are you doing something to try and get pregnant besides having unprotected sex? If not, there is no reason that trying to get pregnant and eating Whole30 style would conflict. In fact some women who have struggled with conception have gotten pregnant during or immediately after a Whole30.

What was your diet like prior to Whole30? Were you used to eating breakfast within an hour of waking? What did it consist of?

I've been tracking ovulation/temperature and have been taking pre-natals but that's about it. That's good to know! Before whole30 my diet was ok. Usually a granola bar for breakfast (within an hour of waking up) and then lunch would be veggies, fruits, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, yogurt. And for dinner maybe pasta or chicken, tacos, burger. I tried to stay away from anything too fatty and fried foods. I would have pizza and eat out occasionally. I like my sweets and would splurge every once in a while. But since I've been on the whole 30 I've been eating a lot more and a lot more protein. It's been tough.

It seems like your previous intake included a lot of carbs between the jams, yogurt, pasta, granola bars etc.  You could definitely be experiencing "carb flu" and given that this is a significant increase in protein for you, you may benefit from some digestive enzymes and some probiotics (think sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha for natural sources).  The nausea could definitely be from not having the right gut bacteria at the moment.

Or....maybe you're already pregnant?  ;)
