Wisdomvox
I'm on Whole30 Round 2 day 6. For the last 2 days I have had horrible problems with itching mouth and swelling lips. I didn't have this problem at all when I did my first in June. I don't believe it is a food allergy but have done some reading about how some people who have hay fever issues have oral allergy issues with fruit. It seems the worst when I eat organic freeze dried bananas but all fruit seems to aggravate it. Anyone else with this issue and how can I make it stop? It hurts and I need my fruit! Thanks! jmcbn
This sounds like oral allergy syndrome to me and a banana is quite a highly allergenic fruit so if you suspect it is the cause then I'd suggest you cut it out.You do not need fruit. The only thing you will get from fruit that you cannot get from vegetables in higher quantity is fructose - and honestly, you'd be better off without that. The fact that you think you need it also suggests that you're using fruit as a crutch, which will undoubtedly be feeding your sugar dragon.Let it go. Brewer5
I have a son with oral allergy syndrome. He cannot eat bananas, cucumbers, avocado........ I don't remember what else. He chooses to avoid those things because the reaction is annoying to him. So I agree, whatever is causing it -- stop eating it.
Wisdomvox
Thank you for responding. No fruit at all for me today and I am feeling a bit better. Of course I don't NEED fruit. But I do hope to be able to eat it. I did a previous W30 in June with great results and I did eat fruit. It isn't a trigger for me, I just like the variety sprinkled in with my veggies and meat.
