heytrace
Started my Whole30 yesterday! My coworkers are pretty cute about it, asking me what day of the timeline it is, and when I'll be cranky, haha. (I've warned them that I'll likely have my headphones in and not talking on Monday, Day 5 ) I've been making up some hashes and scrambles for breakfast, meat and veggies for lunch, and same for dinner. Breakfast yesterday and today was some sweet potato and onion cooked in a little ghee, with two eggs and spinach scrambled in. Lunch both days is leftover compliant pulled pork over a pile of raw veggies, and dinner last night was Nom Nom Paleo's Crispy Chicken Thighs with a bunch of roasted broccoli. I did have a snack of raspberries, some macadamia nuts, and a spoonful of coconut butter yesterday when I had a big sugar craving, but I think it'll get easier to plan larger meals as time goes on as opposed to eating smaller meals like I'm used to. So far, so good, though I did feel really tired this morning. Did any of y'all start yesterday as well?
QuilterInVA
I couldn't tell if you had enough fat in your meals. Cooking fat usually doesn't count for it's left in the pan. Never eat fruit if you have a sugar craving. Your snack fed the sugar dragon and kept him alive and healthy. If your meals are large enough, you won't need a snack. DJglass1
I started the 15th too! I am a terrible meal planner, but I have my husbands support and he is a foodie. I am feeling a little tired today, miss the sweet creamer in my coffee, so I am clearly taking in a lot less caffeine. Which is good, but I have a little headache too. Went to a movie last night with my family (hubby, and three kids) and avoided popcorn, candy and diet coke (Huge win!). I am doing this to feel better, have more energy, lose some weight, and hopefully get rid of some nagging headaches i have been suffering from. Would be happy to stay in touch here and support one another!
Cleighwest
Her snack of raspberries fed the sugar dragon?!? That seems a bit extreme. Good on you for your snack of fruit and nuts. I'm on day three, and if I certainly won't let someone criticize me over having a piece of fruit as a snack!

I'm on day three, and if I certainly won't let someone criticize me over having a piece of fruit as a snack! For best results, if you are craving sugar, the first thing we recommend is to assess whether you are truly hungry. Our litmus test for that is to ask yourself if you could eat something bland like steamed fish and broccoli. If the answer is yes, our advice is to have a mini meal of protein, carb and fat or at least two of those sources. For those trying to beat the sugar dragon, we recommend the carb portion to be veggies (vs. fruit), in this case. Many folks find a protein and fat works well here. If the hunger question answer is no, do something non-food related. Call a friend, do a puzzle, paint your nails, listen to music or read, whatever. Fruit is optional on a Whole30. If you're going to have it, the recommendation is 1-2 servings a day, where a serving is a whole piece of fruit the size of your fist. We further advise to not have fruit by itself, but to have it with meals. It's all about getting the best outcomes for you, with respect to conquering the sugar dragon.
