jgburdette
Hey ya'll. I'm not really sure the best place to post this, so I'll start here. I have had disordered eating issues for years and years. I've been on and off diets, bingeing, compulsive eating, etc for a long time. I honestly never thought of it as a real addiction or disorder until I watched Melissa's Periscope video the other day. I am on Day 4 of my 4th Whole 30. I'm looking at it differently this time though. I need to deal with the underlying issues. Quite honestly, I don't know how to do that. I know therapy could be helpful, but I'm not sure it's financially possible right now. I'm looking for other resources or suggestions on dealing with emotional and compulsive eating. I am able to identify places where I am using food - for example, eating almond butter out of the jar after dinner. Pretty sure I need to not have almond butter for the rest of my whole 30. But what I really need is help dealing with my emotions and my habits and my addictions. That's not going to go away with just getting rid of almond butter, ya'know? Help please? Thanks. GFChris
Yeah, our first suggestion would be to seek out a counselor who specializes in disordered eating to help you manage those emotions and actions you're describing. In the meantime, the book Brain Over Binge gets mentioned here a lot. Hey there, I know this was an old post but I have just been looking through and could really relate to your post. I have recently been going to Overeaters Anonymous meetings and have found them really beneficial. You might want to look them up and see if there are any meetings in your area? Go along to one and see if you find it helpful. Let me know if you have any questions x
