lisarenee
Just made roasted veggies and sprinkled some balsamic vinegar on them before reading the label (won't do that again!) I took two bites before detecting some sugar and then read the label to learn that there is in fact caramel color in it. My question is do these two small bites violate the diet in such a way that I should reset the clock to day 1 again? I'm only on day 5 ... And feeling so sad about this. And angry at how much crap is in all these products! Thanks for any help and advice on this!
missmary
You are correct, caramel color is sweetener and not permitted. Read this article and decide for yourself if you need to restart: http://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/
QuilterInVA
You can get white balsamic vinegar. I found it at Trader Joe's.
lisarenee
Thank you for the great tip! - and thank you for the article also. I wish there was a stronger warning to read the labels on balsamic vinegar as it's in many recipes in the Whole 30 book. That's why we didn't think twice about adding a little splash to our veggies. I guess the lesson is to read ALL labels no matter what. The journey continues ...
