Masmadi
My husband and I started the Whole 30 in mid-May. We both love the way we feel and love the simple food plan. We have chosen to not reintroduce. Has anyone else done this and is there any value in adding more food groups to our diet (are we getting everything we need). Would love to hear. jmcbn
Lots of people eat this way long term, and if that's what you want to do post Whole30 then that is entirely up to you. That said at some point there will come a time when you'll just want to eat the damned ice cream and it'd be good to know in advance how that is going to effect you - emotionally & physically. Or you may find yourself in a situation where you just can't find compliant food. For those who say they want to eat this way forever (and I say this as someone who eats this way pretty close to 99% of the time) I'd still advise even a slow roll reintro, including ANY of the food groups you feel you might be tempted to eat again, so that when that day comes you know if it will be truly worth it.Never say never. Masmadi
Thanks for your reply. I didn't include in my post that we do once in a while eat other foods. I say we stick to it more like 80-90% of the time.
Brewer5
We have chosen to not reintroduce. I didn't include in my post that we do once in a while eat other foods. I say we stick to it more like 80-90% of the time. Then you have, in fact, chosen to reintroduce. You just did not do it in the formal re-introduction process laid out in the book, which would have given you invaluable knowledge about how your bodies react to each individual thing. So -- your question is: Are you missing out on anything health-wise by eating meat, vegetables, and healthy fat, with some optional fruit, nuts, and seeds? No.
Brandib
I'm coming up on the end of my second Whole30 this week after doing a Whole45 earlier this year. I chose not to reintroduce that round and had planned to just continue to stay Whole30 as much as I possibly could and do the slow roll reintro. Well life happens and I dabbled in occasional items here and there and then just realized one day that I no longer felt the tiger blood. Part of the problem for me was that I never found out what exactly my body didn't react well to so I didn't learn everything I could have. So, even though I don't want to and am a bit scared to do it, I am doing a full proper reintroduction this round with the intention of taking those learnings, applying them, and then once the reintro is finished eliminating the ingredients that I just don't miss even if they don't have an adverse impact on my body. An interesting learning for me too was that the first round I found to be more of a physical learning process for me while this second round has been more mental learnings. Hope this info helps provide some insight for you on my experience. Good luck to you and your hubby whichever route you go and congrats on already accomplishing so much!
