DebinDenver
Hello all, I am new to the forum and I am on day 6 of my first Whole 30 plan. I have a social engagement tomorrow where the food and wine will be free flowing. I have vowed that I will not deviate from the plan at all. My question is, "What do I tell people when they ask me why I am not eating or drinking?". Thank you in advance for any and all feedback. Moderators ShannonM816 Posted October 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted October 23, 2015 Theoretically, all you should have to do is say, No, thank you, when they offer you food or drink that you don't want, and leave it there. Unless these are people you're close to, you don't owe them an explanation. If you want to explain further, something like, "I'm doing an elimination diet for 30 days to try to determine if these foods are causing issues for me" (if you have specific issues you're okay with discussing, you could use that -- I want to see if eliminating wheat and dairy help my psoriasis or achy joints or whatever). If you want something more than that, you might find this article helpful.
Erica Gucc
When I say, "its only 30 days" and "Im committed" people nod there heads and give me a thumbs up. Seems like everyone is supportive of my endevours, and we have a good time discussing whats not allowed, so they can go, "is that really bad for you?" and I say, "it is actually, and this is why". usually people like learning. Id throw in some comments like, "ooh that looks yummy! that smells great! I'll totally eat that after x amount of days". It makes people feel like youre not criticising their diets. We all eat less than perfect now and then, and their diets aren't sinful, just not ideal. They are still yummy and appetizing to us. Eat beforehand or bring your own food. You'll be ok
