What should I use instead of Honey in this soup?

Here is a great soup I found!! Except it needs honey. Any ideas on a sub?

• 1 head of cauliflower, chopped
• 4 Organic chicken breast
• 2 Tbsp Organic chicken stock
• 2 Tbsp Organic raw honey
• 3 stalks of celery
• 1 cup Franks red hots sauce
• 1 onion, diced 1 tsp black pepper
• 1 Tbsp garlic powder
• ½ Tbsp onion powder
• ½ cup coconut milk
• ½ Tbsp fresh parsley
• ½ Tbsp chives
• ½ Tbsp dried dill
• ½ cup chopped cilantro

 

I am thinking, I can use some sort of fruit juice? I have pineapple, apple cider, raspberry pomegranate....?

 

Any ideas?

I've quite a few recipes where I don't bother subbing anything for the honey and they turn out fine.

It would be fine to use some fruit juice though, or some applesauce.

this one might do better without. Maybe add ghee??

I would just leave the honey out.

Even if I weren't doing Whole 30, I would not put honey in that soup. :-)

If you do want a bit of sweetness, however, you can toss one date in when you're cooking all the rest of the ingredients. It will blend up just fine.

Whenever I make Watercress soup, I will use about 8 dried red dates per 1.5 liters of water/stocks. I think dates are Whole30 approved right?
