My very first Whole30 has begun

Hi,

With aching joints, sleepless nights, waking with headaches, feeling tired during the day, dry skin, brittle nails and weight gain, I've had enough. I've always thought/read that what we eat can have an effect on our body's performance. Before I give in and go to the doctor I'm going to try and feel better through diet. So, two weeks ago, I found Whole30. I read everything on the website - it sounded perfect for me. I set up my profile and had a peek at the Forum. I've read the two books, while working through them I've tried a few of the recipes and have stopped drinking milk in tea and coffee. Today I feel ready to commit to the Whole30.  I've never posted comments on any social platform before so feeling a bit nervous but I think that it will help with my commitment.

So here goes....

Thanks for making me welcome ArtFossil. I'm at work at the moment so can't give you the exact title of the recipe I made last night that I'm having leftovers for lunch but it goes along the lines of Pork Shoulder that after cooking resembles pulled pork and along with that I make the Slaw, Salsa and Guacamole and Ranch dressing and served it on large salad greens. Wow that was good!

Hope your week goes well also.

That sounds delicious! I'll definitely try that!

I'm going to wait a while before I even think about new recipes or anything more complex than putting vegetables inside Cornish hens and throwing them in the clay pot. I'm just focusing on baking and broiling meat and fish and roasting veggies and cooking eggs, which is fine for me, because I'd rather spend the time on my current projects.

Hi Brandi, Just seen your posting. I agree, this could very well be that you need more water. Before I made my commitment to do the Whole30 on Monday, I decided to drop dairy and even try some of the recipes a couple of weeks before as I've said earlier. A few days in, I felt that my body was already readjusting (in more ways than one), to the increase in protein and I did suffer headaches. I increased my water intake and it only took a few days before I broke through the other side and I've no headaches now. I do find it a challenge to keep up the water intake, I'm fine at work because I have a glass on my desk at all times, but come the weekend when I'm busying around, I forget.

Saying that, I have an empty glass on my desk...filling it up now!!!!

Good luck.

Welcome everyone and good luck!!!

I finished my first WHOLE 3O and after 4 days in my knees stopped hurting me - LOVE LONDON I hope you have similar results. My husband is Type 2 diabetic (and we got his endochronologist's blessing before we started) was taken off 2 medications after 4 days. We feel great and LOVE the food.

It took me a few days to get my sealegs with the prep, but now we always have prepared food in the fridge. It makes life so much easier

Now we are compliant at home but when we eat out we have steak, potato and grilled veggies

Good luck it really works and it changes your approach to food
