The Start of a Daunting 30 Days

My Dr. suggested I try this program. I was hoping to get a magic pill to help me stop eating. I have been down similar roads as this before without success. As I told my Dr. "All I can do is try". It is a daunting 30 days, especially right around the holidays. My family wants this for me as well. Am planning to start tomorrow or Wednesday.  I can do most anything for a couple of days, but then my motivation goes. I am REALLY tired of failing. Put your big girls pants on, right?!

Thanks,

Martha

The key to your success will be planning.  Plan to have food available, make a meal plan, plan to follow the template, plan to batch cook on the weekends and plan to succeed.  Is it hard?  Yes.  Is it worth it?  Oh, heck ya!

There is no magic pill and we don't want you to stop eating.  With that comment I'm going to say something that is also going to help you succeed.  this is NOT a calorie or carb restricted diet.  Do not count calories. Do not weigh starchy veggie carbs.  Do not count out 6.5 almonds.  We want you to eat real food in generous quanities in order to send your body a message that you are going to care for it, feed it properly and honor it.  It will then become comfortable and will heal and eventually drop weight.

You don't say what your motivating factors are to taking this journey (aside from to stop eating), so maybe it would help you to list out what you would like to gain from this experience so that when it gets hard, you can look back and see all the great changes... better skin, hair, nails, sleep, concentration, bowel movements, mood etc... these are all things that will be indications that your body is healing and that you are treating it well.

One other thing is if you come from a place of restriction and poor nutrition, it may take more than 30 days for your body to drop weight.  Your body may prioritize healing outstanding problems (gut, auto immune conditions, skin etc) before it releases weight so don't panic, stay the course and know that good nutritious food in proper quantities and as much functional movement a day that you can do (get off the bus a block earlier, take the stairs, dance around in your underwear) is the key to healing and health.

One of the best things I've read anywhere, Sugarcube. This is exactly what I want, and why I am doing the Whole 30.

Wonderful!  I'm so glad that it spoke to you!  There's no mystery or secret... just real food in portions appropriate for the person and functional movement... welcome and good luck on your journey!

Hello flmom! I'm glad to see another Day 8-er! Can you believe we are almost one-third done? How are you doing?

I'm keeping things pretty simple . . . some might say boring . . . but it's working for me and I do feel great and have managed to keep those 3 compliant meals a day coming . . .
