Kimberlee R
Hello! I survived a week of "carb flu" and am on day 10! I have a ton more energy but so much that I am having trouble falling asleep and my mind is incredibly active I can't seem to slow it down. I am following the program but I do allow myself 2 servings of fruit per day when I am working out otherwise I feel horrible. Any help? Thank you!!! By the way, will I not lose weight if I eat a little fruit with my breakfast and at lunch? I really want to see some results with my weight. GFChris
Don't worry about whether or not fruit will help you lose weight. Instead, don't let fruit push vegetables off your plate at your meals, as vegetables tend to be more nutrient-dense than fruit. That being said, I'm a bit concerned about your statement "allow myself 2 servings of fruit per day when I am working out." What sort of workouts are you doing? Are they intense activity, such that you'd benefit from pre and post workout meals, as recommended by the meal template? Pre is protein and optional fat. Post is protein and optional veg carb. As far as your mind racing at bedtime, one thought on that is to have a paper notepad and pen by your bed, and write down everything in your head. It doesn't need to make sense: think of it as a brain-dump. Ultimately, get in proper hormonal balance, and if you need to lose weight, the weight loss will come. That means having your first meal within 1 hour of waking, build each meal to meet the recommended template of protein, veg and fat, and to satiate you for 4-5 hours. Brewer5
I have a ton more energy but so much that I am having trouble falling asleep and my mind is incredibly active I can't seem to slow it down. This could be caused by an increase in stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. This can be from not eating enough food in general, drinking caffeine too close too bedtime (even if it did not bother you before -- things are different when you change your food). It also could be that you are used to eating calming, brain-numbing carbohydrates in the evening, which essentially put you in a carb coma. If you are eating starchy vegetables, maybe save them for your evening meal to get that calming effect. Fruit in the evening could have the opposite effect and be stimulating. Play around with it and see what you notice.
