Day 13 Depressed after a Birthday Party

Hey there

I took my son to a birthday party yesterday.  There was so much good food. I ate a couple of carrot sticks and some pineapple.  As I looked at the yummy sandwiches, chips, samosas, I started to feel deprived.  Chocolate cake...mmmm....my husband had packed food for me, which I devoured on the way home, but for the whole weekend, all I wanted to do was eat and drink wine.  SIGH.  I resisted, and today I am better.

Was that an emotional hurdle that I got over? How will I deal with this again?

I think in future you eat before you go, not after...... It's like going to the supermarket when you're hungry - you want to BUY ALL THE THINGS!

If you're suffering from cravings in general then up your fat intake at each meal - fat is your friend here, and it is the only thing that will rid you of the cravings.

Each of these situations is a learning curve for us & they show us how tied we are to food emotionally, and how we often see food as some kind of reward - it's perfectably acceptable to celebrate in other ways that are non-food related, but unfortunately it's nolonger the norm in our society....

Well done for making it through the party.

the second week I dealt with A LOT of emotional issues! the detox the first week was easier! The second week was really rough.  I had one day where I was smelling all of my sons food before I gave it to him or threw it out I was having mouth watering visions about just taking one bite.  I got over it and It's been smooth sailing since!  I don't even miss it! went out to brunch with friends today and my steamed asparagus(I told them olive oil was ok but came out dry) was so good! I didn't even look twice at what everyone else was eating! You will get through it. Hang in there. It gets better! glad you stayed strong!
