raven526
Hello Fellow Whole30ers!! Pleased to meet everyone, I'm Raven. I'm so nervous and excited for tomorrow. I've spent the last two - three weeks researching Whole30, planning recipes, and how I'm going to navigate upcoming social activities. Probably no amount of "being prepared" can really make me ready for what I'm about to embark on. Two of my biggest food fears are giving up popcorn and wine. To give you an idea of how much I love wine and popcorn, I work for a wine and spirits company & my bridal shower featured a popcorn bar & a wine and cheese bar. I will be having both tonight to say goodbye for the next month (and maybe longer?) I am excited for this Whole30 for not only the (potential) weight loss but also for inflammation reduction. I've had arthritis since I was in fifth grade and most recently, probably in the last year, I've really stopped paying attention to what I'm putting in my body and my joints have really been bothering me. I wake up and my fingers are so swollen I can't even get my wedding ring off. I am lucky because my amazingly picky eater husband has agreed to partially do this with me (mainly when he's within eye sight of me.) I've gotten a journal to write in everyday about how I'm feeling, my struggles, NSV, and whatnot... I'll also be tweeting daily (@valdesr) and photographing my food and posting via instagram (@Butterbeforekale - I know, not a very Whole30 friendly name haha.) Follow along with my journey if you want! Does anyone want to be Whole30 buddies? I'm sure we all can use all the support we can get. I'd love to have someone to chat with
Angiewhole30ready!
Hi Raven! Congrats on deciding to do the Whole30! Tomorrow is my first day as well. I am excited and nervous. The 2 things I will have the most trouble with are sugar (going to be painful not to have sugar for 30 days and beyond!) and wine when I go out to dinner. I am not a big drinker but when I go out to dinner with friends it is nice to relax with a glass of wine. It is so nice you have the support of your husband! That is awesome! My friends put so much pressure on me to eat bad and drink so that is excellent! I would love to be your Whole 30 buddy as my family and friends think this thing is nuts! I would love to say I am going to take pics of my food and post them but I know I won't. I always forget. I will be cheering you on though! Good luck!! raven526
Hi Angie and JSC! Yay! Glad we can be buddies Did you guys do any food prep today? I just finished through Thursday. I'm exhausted! Time for measurements and weigh in.
Angiewhole30ready!
Wow you are good! No food prep yet - I am going to buy some ingredients tomorrow and prep tomorrow night. I usually cook myself some kind of fish at home for dinner if I don't eat out so I am hoping I have enough recipes in my head to help me through. I travel alot for work though so I am particularly worried about eating right on the run. I may need to stock up on apples and nuts for emergency food if needed. What kind of foods did you prep? I saw a few nice fish stew recipes that looked good. I may need to try a couple.
raven526
Let me know how the traveling goes! I have two holiday parties that I need to go to and I am so worried about them. I prepped a lot of veggies and proteins for dinner. Next Friday I plan to put a chili in the crockpot since Friday nights are usually food downfalls for me. WholeMama623
Whole100! That is amazing! I hope I can get to a place one day to do this for 100 days. I just requested to follow you on Insta The Whole30 for me isn't long enough! I know that sounds crazy, but I JUST start to see the good results about the time it's coming to an end. I did another Whole100 earlier this year, and it was just amazing. I also have a log for myself that I write in every day, it's in my signature if you ever want to check it out! I accepted your request! Looking forward to following your journey!
raven526
Oh! Yay! I am happy that you're doing a log... I was thinking of doing one as well. SimpleNotEasy
I'm in, too! Starting tomorrow although I am eating compliant today, too. I want to take good care of myself and wake up on December 31 feeling proud of the past 30 days! This time of year is a big challenge, so having firm rails to run on in place will work well for me. Raven, it's awesome that you have already done so much food prep! Good work!

Angiewhole30ready!
How is everyone doing so far? I always make a simple breakfast of 2 soft boiled eggs so that was easy. Had a healthy veggie snack mid day. I have a recipe planned for tonight that I hope will be good. I will share it if it comes out good! My sugar cravings always rear their ugly head at around 6 - 8 pm so if I can make it through those for the first few days I should be in good shape. Nightitme is the hardest part fo rme. How about everyone else? Feelings, thoughts? keep up the great work everyone!
raven526
Hey Angie! Happy to hear the day is going well for you! So far, foodwise, I think I'm doing okay.... Had baked eggs this morning (two eggs, bacon, spinach, & mushrooms) with roasted sweet potatoes in EVOO. Lunch was Buffalo Bacon Chicken Meatballs (http://occasionalfaileo.com/2015/01/25/bacon-buffalo-chicken-meatballs/) and roasted broccoli & cauliflower in EVOO. I don't normally get to eat dinner till 6:30/7 so I have some pecans to snack on the car. Dinner will be a salmon dish I found in the Whole30 book with roasted Brussel sprouts and asparagus in EVOO. I do have a bit of a headache and starting to feel light headed. Might grab an apple in an hour if this doesn't go away. I've had some issues with passing out after feeling light-headed for too long (and at other times - doctors can't figure out why) so want to make sure I stay upright today But I'm also thinking I need to drink some more water. Can't wait to hear from everyone else
broccolimama
Hi Raven and everyone else here! I started today 11/30 and I am so happy to find others for support. I tried to get my husband and sister to join me but they both said NO! They wanted to start in January but I feel very strongly that I want to ring in the new year feeling better than I do today. What will be hardest for me is not snacking. I am a grazer but I really don't need to be. So I prepped proteins and cut up veggies and have had 2 of my 3 meals. I am still nursing one of my daughters so I am going to reserve my snack for "when I really need it". My main reasons for doing this are to "reset". I have been needing caffeine and sugar in a way that is not normal for the past year. I want to wake up with more energy- I'm exhausted and yes I have two little ones but I dread the first cry because no matter how much sleep I get I fel like crap in the AM. I also would like to lose weight but am really aiming for the lifestyle change to stick. I believe the rest will follow. Right? I have about 35-40lb to lose. Looking forward to following your journeys.

fruittree
Hi everyone, I would like to join you all as well! My wife and I are starting today. We've been gearing up for the last couple of days, and have been easing into it. We ate mostly compliant yesterday as finished up a few things from the cupboard and fridge. We eat a lot of veggies and fruit already in our regular diet, but unfortunately a lot of rich sauces, wine, desserts, and french fries too. I love to cook, and would be happy to share ideas and recipes. We have our first 10 days or so mapped out - heavy on roasts and soups. Tonight's dinner is a nice pork loin roast, homemade unsweetened apple sauce, a couple of roasted potatoes, squash, brussel sprouts. Glad to meet you all, and I am looking forward to the next weeks! This has been such a phenomenal thing for me and my family! I've had the pleasure of doing this with my DH and our 24 year old daughter who lives at home during the week for work. WholeMama623
My first "official" day is tomorrow, but today has been compliant so far and I'm feeling pretty good! Looking forward to being a few weeks in and feeling GREAT!
Angiewhole30ready!
Hi Fruittree, Recipes to share would be great! I would love the one for unsweetened homeade appleasauce. Below is a link to the dinner I made for myself tonight. I don't eat meat (I do eat seafood) so a lot of my recipes will be veggie heavy. I subbed the sweet potato for butternut squash becuase I had one at home and it has much fewer carbs. This was so delicious! Super bright, fresh flavors. http://www.alexandracooks.com/2015/11/12/sweet-potatoes-with-chilies-lime-cilantro/ Hope everyones else's day went well. I am craving an eBoost drink so bad right now but it has Stevia in it so I am doing anything I can to take my mind of it!

Dedicated1980
Hi Raven! I added you on Instagram. My username is picmyworldapart. Pleased to meet you! I had a false start before Thanksgiving but have been back on track since the 27th and on most days even track my food on MyFitnessPal because I seriously need to lose weight. The thing I love about this diet is that it really does reduce my cravings and it also gives me just a little boost of energy so far. I don't go crazy with meal prep or planning ahead too much. I'm not saying that it's easier my way. It's probably harder. I eat most lunches and dinners out so I just order things MY WAY and avoid fast food. I find that within reason most restaurants will be extremely compliant. Because I have been to most of the places nearby at least 100 times i know the ins and outs of the menu and know what I'm going to order before I get there. Thats about as much planning as i've done unless you count bringing my own avocado to breakfast along with my light coconut milk to lighten my coffee. Anyways, i'd love to be another buddy. I need support as well.
